I think the answer falls into a grey area and depends entirely on personal motive. If you value your Faithful friends and family, whilst already knowing it's pointless due to their convictions, then leave it well enough alone.
I am an atheist and I am from the southern part of the country where the population of both Muslims and Christians are equal. I think as atheists we should not keep quiet when the opportunity arises to debate with the believers.
The bottom line for me is that you can rarely get a religious person to discuss anything rationally, that is the point, they have dismissed rational argument and replaced it with the opposite.
I realize that you are offended by this display of exercising ones right to free speech, but being that we live in a democracy and not a theocracy you being offended is something you are going to have to put up with as theology has been used to marginalize people for thousands of years, do you fe
