Your professor was correct. We most certainly are the product of evolution. We are cousins to the chimpanzee and are related to every living thing on the planet. We have a common ancestry. No gods required. Small changes accumulating over long periods of time is all it takes to explain the complexity and diversity of life. I think that explanation is awesome. Way more majestic and inspiring than that silly tale in Genesis.
I call BS on this appeal. For over 30 years of my adult life I opened my heart, I searched, I even got on my knees. My intentions were 100% sincere. I WANTED this god to reveal itself to me.

BTW there are controlled scientific studies that prove prayer does not work. No discernable difference between the outcomes from the prayer groups, the non prayer groups and the control.
You should look them up.
Prayer only makes you feel good/better. Prayer to a god or gods has no effect on the events or circumstances that surround you or the object of your prayers. Get over it.
If you don't believe me here's a little test you can do. Pray every day for Mykcob's conversion, Then in 3 months come back and repeat the absolute condescending bollocks you wrote before about loving him and praying for him. That should be very interesting and a very steep learning curve for you.

Since I realized there was no god, it was like I was freed from slavery. The perpetual fear was dissipated, the uncertainty, the worrying and anxiety. Today I can state that I have never been happier or emotionally stable. I found the happiness that religion denied me.
I also have more confidence in myself, and facing challenges are a lot easier. I stared directly at death, and did not blink.
Ok how about we get off the God thing and let me ask this. Lets not talk about the "simple cell" that is way overdone. What about each mechanism in its simplest form. How could echolocation, lungs, heart, eyes, balance, hearing, smell, reproduction, sonar, photosynthesis, various defense mechanisms like a skunk spraying stink, an eel that can shock you, a squid that can spray ink, ect. When you roll these mechanisms into their simplest forms where evolution would have started, they are still very complex and most of them require communication with the brain which makes it extremely improbable that any of these mechanism could have been created by natural causes.

The general rule with evolution...and with anything in general...is that things that are good at prospering, prosper. It would be wrong to suggest it is a "random" process.
I agree and understand that.
And please understand that everything is a mutation from it's parents. Most mutations are incredibly minor. But if that wee little mutation improves an organism's chances for survival, it is likely that mutation will be carried on. But for every successful mutation, there are scores that fail. They do not reproduce. When you combine extremely minor changes over thousands or millions of generations, then the change can become obvious. In most cases that is what evolution is, small changes over very long periods of time and many generations.
When we encounter the "747 created from a hurricane", I hope you understand why those who understand evolution get irate.

You are basically taking pages out of the book of Job, chapters 38 & 39, in which the God character asks Job a series of questions. Since you are an educated person you should be able to answer most of them whereas the intent was to show Job as an ignorant person.

Wouldn't evolution state that each one these mechanism started very simple then became more complex over time through evolution? My statement is yes even when you roll back each mechanism to its simplest form it is still very complex.
You have not rolled back any mechanisms to their simplest forms. The simplest form is not even a one celled organism.
Please understand the time involved in evolution. It is estimated that "life" began 3.8 billion years ago. It has been estimated that 2.1 billion years ago the first eukaryotes (a cell with walls and a nucleus) showed up. That is 1.7 billion years for something incredibly simple to evolve into just single celled organisms. Take a moment to digest this. It was not a 747 springing into existence in a day, it was 1,700,000,000 years just to get to a single cell organism.
I also suggest you watch this video. It explains how the eye evolved. And understand that Dawkins is a recognized and respected fellow in this field. He isn't just making things up, everything he states had to be backed up or he would be suffer a destroyed reputation in his field of science. You may know him as a critic of anything religious, but he is also a very dedicated and accomplished scientist.
