It seems that their specific religion is not specified, but it is of little concern: They believed that praying and "medical honey" was a better option than hospitals, doctors and medicine...

But that's just the thing, the Churches and politicians have been working hard to weave together patriotism with Christianity, and to rewrite the US history to make it look like it is buildt on "Christian values".

A Japanese woman was robbed of almost a million dollars and forced into prostitution after being brainwashed by a "fortune-teller."
Many Japanese are superstitious, and preying on fear and hope has long been a very profitable business for religions. Fortune-tellers draw on various religious traditions to produce convincing mumbo-jumbo advice about careers, love, etc. They often set up desks in malls or outside supermarkets, and they usually have long lines waiting to pay heavily for their rubbish.
The Christian speakers such as the great awakening proponent Johnathan Edwards really scared people he spoke to, This was one sermon that bought fear and cruelty into the world. this 18th century preacher went around with unfounded claims and put hatred and fear.You could thank people like Jesus Christ and the chroniclers of the bible for this.To hear that this teaching is being espoused in todays classrooms in catholic school and sunday school classes by evangelicals and fundamentalist is alarming. My question is when will we rid ourselves from these poisonous teachings and just go on with our lives.Please if you get the opportunity to read Bertrand Russell essays, He addresses this in quite detail.Especially in the book why I am not a Christian.

The Catholic church in Australia has just released historical data on the number of clergy, etc., accused of child sex abuse. The average is 7% of all clergy, but some orders have much higher rates. The Brothers of St. John of God have a 40% hurt rate in Australia and New Zealand. 90% of victims are boys. The average ages are 11 1/2 for boys and 10 1/2 for girls. Even the church's lawyer was weeping as he presented the stats at a Royal Commission hearing. These poor little kids had no-one to protect or even believe them.
Many victims have committed suicide, so I guess they won't get into heaven. However, the holy slime who did these awful things can presumably get a free pass by confessing. This entire scum-cluster should be investigated and disbanded in every jurisdiction worldwide for organized crimes against children.

I think it is horrendous whats taking place world wide if convicted these so called men of the cloth deserve the full punishment of the penal system. And once they serve there time should not be able to work with children in any capacity.My friend always said that a priest is a man first then a man of the cloth second. That about say`s it all.

The Archbishop of Brisbane recently compared abortion to Nazi euthanasia policies. The government of Queensland, Australia hit back, telling him to get his own house in order before making comments like that. He also offered to "counsel" the government, but the deputy premier, who is herself a Catholic, basically told him to get stuffed.
