Hello everyone!
As atheists, we should support Amber Heard in her humanitarian work, life, and in Hollywood! She's a United Nations Human Rights Champion, leader, and activist!
We created a petition to support her, and finally has nearly 4,300 signatures! But her ex is exploiting social media which you know also discriminates against atheists (atheist republic has it pinned for years on their twitter about it), tabloids, and social status to try to remove her from Aquaman 2, her UN position, and any nonprofit or organization which supports her.
People at the event were begging for Atheist Representation in Hollywood, and no one except her does it for them. Please sign or read her positive background to support her!

@Christina Worldie: Wow! I Just read that Band Wagon, name dropped, emotional appeal garbage and it has taken the wind out of my sales. Thanks for the video link. When I have some time I will check them out. You might want to change your promotional tactics when dealing with a bunch of skeptics. Just saying! The drivel you posted is about as good as any cheesy TV commercial by Sally Struthers begging us to save the children.

Support her for what? Apparently shed is an actress and doing very well for herself. WTF are you on about???
Is she imprisoned? Is she destitute? Has her tongue been cut out?
Is she the sole voice for atheists in Hollywood?
Does theism need a voice in Hollywood?
If this petition gains traction, what does it mean? What happens next?
A child dies every ten seconds from starvation. We have more pressing issues when it comes to signing petitions.
As atheists we should support this actor's humanitarian work? Why, as atheists? Humanitarian work is admirable, if genuinely performed, but has nothing to do with atheism. This sounds like another attempt to herd atheists.
@David Killens: I think the OP means, "Come join Amber's fan club."
I appears some fans have become embroiled in the messy divorce between Amber Heard and her ex, Johnny Depp. I am not taking sides right now, I will wait until a court decision.
Do we get cool t-shirts if we join? Coffee mug, maybe? Anything? Honestly, I'm not much of a "fan club" sorta guy. Never have been. Still, if the incentives are pretty cool I just might consider. Naturally, though, the incentives would have to be free. Because with my living on a meager state retirement salary, I doubt any contributions I make would be of much benefit to her six or seven digit annual (monthly?) income.
@Thread
Slightly off topic but...
At least for myself, and especially as I got older, never really idolized anyone. Certainly not a god idea, but also not people. There are certainly people I would enjoy to meet and chat with 1 on 1 for a little bit if I was allowed to ask real questions, but there is no TV/movie/music star or politician etc, where I would get super excited to see in person like I see so many other people do.
For instance, I go to concerts of some of my favorite artist, to support them, to experience the unique concert etc, but if I were to run into one of my favorite artist at, say: a food store, I would not freak out and beg for them to sign something or ask for a selfie, I would instead give their space and privacy, and let them approach me, if they so wished, (but I do not expect.) I know they are not looking for another fan to talk to, especially if they already have many of them.
I wonder if other atheist are somewhat similar to me, it would make sense, that atheist that do not spend inordinate amounts of time worshipping some deity are less inclined to do the same to people.
Thoughts anyone?
@Logic Re: Celebrity idols
Hey, I'm right there with you. Sure, there are a couple of actors and musicians that I tend to favor. There are certainly those out there who have considerable talents. However, I don't recall that I have ever gotten all super-hyped about any of them, especially as I got older. As far as I am concerned, they are just people doing a job. Even if I were to somehow recognize a celebrity out in public, the most I MIGHT do would be to nod my head and say "Hello" if they happened to look my way. Otherwise, I feel no need nor desire to invade somebody's privacy unnecessarily, whether they are a celebrity or otherwise.
For me, the personal experience at that moment is what matters. I am a seriously addicted race fan, I have met some big names, yet I do not have any autographs. And some of those personal moments are what no fan can buy. For example, because I was participating with a F5000 team, I had unlimited pit passes. During the Saturday support races, I just decided to go sit on the pit wall and watch a race. I wander over, sit down, and realize that I am all alone, sitting on the pit wall with Mario Andretti. And during those thirty minutes we had a small chat, I realized what nice guy he was, and down deep, he was just like me, a race fan.
I have some very serious rock and roll concert goers as close friends, and two weeks ago I realized those friends worshiped those rock stars. They would drive for 20 hours just to see someone, then rant about it for the following week. But for me, it's meh for personal concerts, it is the musical experience they deliver is what matters.
I can't think of a single soul that I have ever idolized. I have had some delicious sole and I happened to be in Seoul at the time. I'm with you Logic. People have always been people to me.
I am completely in the same boat. People are people, no matter their acclaim in some circles. They don't suddenly become worthy of unabashed adoration simply because of a particular accomplishment. And yeah - I always figured it must be a huge bother to have people fawn all over you everywhere you go, as some celebrities must endure. I couldn't imagine being one of the ones imposing myself on someone like others apparently do. How terribly uncouth some people must be. I don't expect anyone should find me particularly worth their spending time on, and I only hope others grant me the same courtesy.
@Christina Worldie.
"As atheists, we should support Amber Heard in her humanitarian work"
What ?
Do you actually have any idea of the definition of 'Atheist'?
For your edification:
"atheist
/ˈeɪθɪɪst/
Learn to pronounce
noun
a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods.'
There are no 'shoulds' for atheists apart from a disbelief in gods. Atheism is NOT; a belief, philosophy, political ideology, a moral position , a club or even an homogeneous group. . .
Besides, who put you in charge? Did we have an election ?
I decide for myself whose humanitarian aid, or any cause I support. . Certainly not a thing I decide as the result of clickbait on an internet forum. Nor do I care which narcissistic celebrities support any cause.
Are you talking about the same Amber Heard who admitted on recorded conversations with Johnny Depp that she threw pots, pans and vases and punched him in the face? The same Amber Heard who said that she was angry he would leave situations where she started physical fights because she wanted him to stay and fight? The same Amber Heard who told him to stop being a baby and to "grown the f**k up when he called her out for punching in him in the jaw? Shame on you for promoting this POS.
Amber Heard threw a glass bottle of vodka at Johnny Depp which severed off the tip of his finger. If it had hit him in the head it could have killed him. The only reason she is an atheist is because her friend was killed in a car accident and guess who was driving the car?
In 2009, Heard was arrested in the state of Washington for misdemeanor domestic violence against her lover.
p.s. I signed the petition for Johnny Depp to be in the next Pirates movie.
@David Killens: RE: Heard Arrest. THAT BITCH!!!
I wanna start a petition for Johnny Depp to be the new atheist leader -
Re petition idea from Pirate movie
I'm so out of touch. Like I kind of know who Depp is; I seen a few movies staring him. I might be able to pick him out of a police line; especially if he was dressed like Hunter Thompson. That's it.
Amber Heard must be getting really desperate for attention.
One indulgence I partake in is comparing before and after. Sometimes that reveals the actual truth.
Amber Heard has benefited tremendously from her time with Johnny Depp.
For Johnny Depp, he looks like shit, admitting to being a massive consumer of alcohol. And his movie career has taken a tremendous hit.
I don’t idolize celebrities (using this word loosely) but can appreciate their art (acting, music, sports, whatever) when they are good. I can’t stand media whores. I find the actors I respect most are those that are not often in the public arena.
As far as I remember Heard is a convicted international doggie smuggler.
She and Depp brought her two fluffly dogs, Pistol and Boo, to Australia where Depp was filming without clearing the mutts as per our strict animal quarantine laws. Our unique and sometime venomous marsupial fauna, ginormous snakes and tour coach eating crocodiles and cattle are particularly susceptible to foreign bugs and pooches.
Depp and Heard were demonised by our then red-neck ignoramus, philandering, perpetually inebriated, mining magnate puppet, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Farm Speak, Barnaby 'Beetroot" Joyce, who displaying the impartiality of Aussie justice for uppity movie celebrities, wealthier than he, also demanded the dogs be sent home or put down.
Thankfully Pistol and Boo were flown home but Depp and Heard had to face charges in a Federal court for neglecting to declare the dogs in the first place. As part of a negotiated deal to mitigate punishment Heard and Depp agreed to film a moving 'mea culpa' explanation that has been regaled as a tour de force performance.

Such heartfelt contrition. I rate this a single tissue job.
Ugh.. I just read this after all of this time. You do realize that there are VERY FEW FEMALE ATHEIST LEADERS... in fact, the leader of the DR Conference in the United Kingdom was threatened with sexual assault when he questioned another man about if sexual assault accused people should hold atheist conferences...
This completely shows why. It also shows why as of yet, no partnership with Atheist Republic has happened, but I'm partnered with Canadian atheists.
Amber Heard is not what you paint her as - and obviously Richard Dawkins agrees since he let her speak with him TWICE for the Center for Inquiry. The point of the petition is to show her POSITIVE background.
As for dogs, small issues, etc... no one really cares. What does matter is helping people in society.
Afterall, this website says Atheism is now a *political movement* for enlightenment.
I care, and I'm atheist - which means I will DO something because I know no one else and no 'spirit' will. I also like going against the Status Quo.

Do you understand, Amber Heard, is not an Atheist Leader?
@Cognostic
"Do you understand, Amber Heard, is not an Atheist Leader?
As as far as I know, there is no such animal. Was there an election?
Before the click bait post, I had never heard of Amber Heard .Is she some kind of celebrity? Why should I give a flying farnackle about what she or any other celebrity** says about anything?
This a forum is the closest I get to any form of social media, because I think social media is the material world's version of the antichrist.
**that oxymoron, reality TV together with Youtube have proved Andy Warhol was at least partly right about fame in the future. IE everyone gets 15 minutes.
@ Christina Worldie
The OP you composed painted her as a celebrity, and then you laid out multiple examples of her being active on social media.
I am a skeptic, and thus I checked her as you described, the social activism and celebrity. My post reflected what I have learned. If you did not want such a negative reaction, then you should have been more careful in how you portrayed her.
"As for dogs, small issues, etc... no one really cares."
I care. If I was to examine anyone, I look at both the negative and positive. Are you asking me to ignore anything negative, and just look at the positive? If I did that I would believe Trump is the greatest person ever.
@Christina Phew... stinks of identity politics. You know who you remind me of? That Goat-awful "Atheism Plus" vanity project. Those who refuse to acknowledge the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them.
As much as I do agree that we could stand to see more female voices in the atheist community, IMO this person's atheism and being female are not the most important facets of her being. I'm not supporting her, as a) contrary to your assertion, she is not even much of an "atheist leader" seeing as by your own admission, she only spoke at atheist conventions twice as a guest speaker, and b) she has previously been charged with domestic violence- but sure the latter is a "small issue", and is nothing compared to the fact that she just so happens to disbelieve in God and be a woman; after all, marginalization points are everything. /s
Hey! ROHAN!!!.... *beaming smile*... How the hell ya been, you little scoundrel? Good seeing you back on board the Good Ship AR. Guessing school closures have left you with a bit of free time lately?... *chuckle*...
@Tin-Man Yes, I'm still alive! And also, yes, I do have some more free time... and more time in general for which I don't deem myself as too tired or drowsy to say anything on places like this without embarrassing myself.
