In exchange for obedience, Christianity promises salvation in an afterlife; but in order to elicit obedience through this promise, Christianity must convince men that they need salvation, that there is something to be saved from. Christianity has nothing to offer a happy man living in a natural, intelligible universe.

So long as there is suffering there will be an idea of a world without it. Christianity offers such a world out of this world, deliverable on death, so long as we can be saved form ourselves which if we give in to even thinking about our natural urges we much seek redemption from the church which ever christian church you belong to in order to get to this magical place with no suffering no one has ever written or heard back from. And thus constitutes one the greatest scams ever pulled on humanity.
those who control Christianity have created a system of obey us to get rewarded after you can no longer receive reward support us pay for us do what we tell you to and after you die you will be rewarded with eternal salvation we can not say for sure anyone has ever gotten to but you have to have faith because isn't this idea of an afterlife without suffering great wouldn't it be nice as compared to the world of eternal suffering we would otherwise go to once again nobody has ever written or heard back from. At the very least consider pascals wager. LOL Religion should give up, but then again (why?) there is a sucker born every minute.
Without these unproven ever changing ideas of Heaven Hell Christianity would have nothing to offer us or protect us from and to date we have never seen the faithful saved or punished in the afterlife because nobody can say for certain we have been there.
