That reminded me of this video.
OK, John6, for me there have been too many contradictions in your argument. You wrote that we dont choose Jesus but that he chooses us, then you wrote that we choose him by our actions or volition. Your argument is still unclear to me.
Join the Catholic, there are all sorts of things we can't disprove. Does that make them true? What about unicorns?
That fact that there is no way to tell which god is the true god suggests to me that no such being exists. Of course, there is always the possibility of a god that does not wish to be known, in which case I am not re quired to believe in such a god.
He does the saving, you do the rejecting.
Do I think there will be Buddhists in heaven who never heard of Jesus? Of course.
Do I think there will be Atheists in heaven who were sincere in their disbelief but still lived upright lives? Of course.
Do I think there will be Christians in Hell, who went to Church every day but didn't live upright lives? Of course.
"there are all sorts of things we can't disprove. Does that make them true? What about unicorns?"
I agree. That wasn't my point though. My point was, if you want to know which god to follow (which is the title of the thread), it wouldn't be a long stretch to disprove the major religions one by one. There really aren't that many if you clump together Protestants and Catholics under Christianity; Sunni and Shiite under Islam; Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Shinto, Zoroastrianism, Jainism. Really, only the first five are wide spread so maybe start there.
Did you disprove all those that are not Catholicism? If so, please share the mechanisms used. If not, how, then, did you arrive at Catholicism? Why Catholicism vs. say, Lutheranism?
How would you propose that I disprove Hinduism? Its a far older religion than Christianity, and as such has probably had more followers.
