post-atheism no god, no self, no separate beings, magick, spiritualism

Have you had any significant personal, creative or spiritual development since discovering atheism, that involved actions, experiences or dreams that other wise that would otherwise be seen as unusual for atheists? Maybe you are a musician inspired by ancient religions interpreting them in your own way or a philosopher who maintains the effigy of the goddess Minerva to remind oneself of the pursuit of knowledge.

For me there was a point in my life when I called myself an atheist, but atheism for the most part is just the rejection of the god of Abraham and I considered myself a machine in a world of physically visible material things. That is not the end of the journey because philosophy and dharma teaches us new ways of looking at ourselves and the universe without violating material physics.

The Upanishads from ancient India refer to liberation from suffering and then wheel of life being like a drop of water returning to the ocean, there is a double meaning of spiritual ascension beyond the material being like the reference to death.

When I was young I remember walking in the rain on the way home from primary school and feeling cold and realizing I could relieve myself from the displeasure of the cold through focusing a state of mindfulness.

Most gurus merge some sort of "atheistic" science in with their spiritual ideas to make them more palatable to a modern skeptical audience and I think that's really dangerous. I am also an optimist, in that I think that if people are looking for a genuine spiritual experience, which I would define as, a largely introspective experience that enhances their character and changes their perception of what their relationship to the universe is. Then i think that is achievable.

I think everyone has on AR knows about people like Sam Harris who often blend atheism with Buddhism or new age things, I have also found Satanic philosophies to be quite valuable. I have found that drawing sigils and conducting affirmative rituals helps me correct my path in life, for example a most likely time for me to conduct a ritual is when I undertake something such as the creation of several artworks or another personal or work project that requires me to make sacrifices, time or otherwise. Collectively I call the usage of sigils, rituals, meditations, visualizations and gestures "casting", and the most practical application of these skills is the suggestion and exclusion of things from the sub-conscious.

For a while I venerated the deity Shiva and that produced vivid internal imagery, influenced my thoughts for several days and inspired me to stop eating meat, particularly beef. I ate tofu and beans for a while and I've always believed the vegans are right about reducing the suffering of sentient beings. After a while however I stop my veneration to lord Shiva because I am tired of eating things that taste like beans, and the veneration of the Shiva archetype does not produce those sensations of worldliness that lead to practical endeavors in life, because Shiva is a god of ascetics and spiritual mystics. With that being done, I evoke the god Thoth to my quarters and my mind and produce an image by hand Ink on A3 of the gods Thoth and Ptah, Ptah is a facsimile of the craftsman Imhotep. As I gaze upon the image of Thoth and Ptah I am reminded of my purpose through my senses in a way that is faster than words created by thought. For non creative people this sorcery may just be larping for something that seldom goes deeper than a self help book, however for creative people there is the desire to go deeper into the dream to find that sound or image that fills the void in your creative process.

Although I don't believe the experiences of Gnostics and occultists like A Crowley and HP Blavatsky, in their meditative trances, to be a literal connection to a consistent astral world or duat, or a literal case of the spirit leaving the body and going to some other-worldly dimension. I do enjoy the day dreamy process where every living person allows themselves to forgo reality and open a door to the Jungean means of understanding ourselves, fueling emotional experiences that become creative expressions.

I would like to finish with something colorful.

Om Kali, om namo kali kalika, all these stupid people in the world they're going to die, humanity will never be able to surpass the coming catastrophe of climate change, but maybe, maybe if we are lucky then a rogue state will develop a bio-weapon that kills most of the people on the planet, that's the only thing that could save us from death by environmental pollution.

Oh, okay. I'll play. Only because I'm bored, though.

Hmmm... Perhaps Shiva should send his woman (Kali) back to the kitchen to make him a sandwich or something.

according to Hindu mythology

according to Hindu mythology Shiva was/ is addicted of Marijuana and he beheaded his own son Ganesha. So no sandwich, he needs marijuana :)

I am often find myself amused

I am often find myself amused by improbable coincidences that would be more improbable if they did not happen. Not quite what the OP had in mind perhaps.

What the hell was that?

What the hell was that? Dreamy feel good quasi hippy nice words then a nasty summoning prayer of death and destruction to all mankind...you need to take a long walk in a leafy forest or something and for something colourful maybe a tree will crush you.
Peace.

It's not a prayer, it's the

It's not a prayer, it's the reality of our living conditions that we will all die, whether we talk about it as climate change or the general pollution of the land sea and air, humanity will fuck up this planet. I don't use Kali as a prayer to impose my will on the world or to make it die, I don't believe in that sort of spooky action at a distance, it's a way of returning myself to the fatalist reality that awaits us based on scientific research.

Maybe you are a climate change denying atheist, I could practice all the bizarre tribal pseudo-sciences in the world for the sake of a yearly pilgrimage inside my own mind with LSD and I'm still more in the real world than anyone who denies the environmental impact humans have on this planet.

If the things I say just sound like meaningless garble then you should venerate an idea to the point of extreme mental excitement under the influence of psycho-active chemicals, drug use is the most genuine form spiritual materialism.

Where there is discontinuity, wellbeing cannot thrive.
Our conversations with other spiritual brothers and sisters have led to a flowering of pseudo-unified consciousness. Who are we? Where on the great journey will we be reborn? Reality has always been bursting with pilgrims whose lives are opened by starfire.

You may be ruled by desire without realizing it. Do not let it eradicate the nature of your mission. The complexity of the present time seems to demand a summoning of our chakras if we are going to survive. Yes, it is possible to shatter the things that can sabotage us, but not without wellbeing on our side.

We are being called to explore the totality itself as an interface between intention and potentiality. The Goddess will be a gateway to mystical fulfillment. We must fulfill ourselves and fulfill others.

You and I are spiritual brothers and sisters of the infinite.
The goal of four-dimensional superstructures is to plant the seeds of presence rather than suffering. Rejuvenation requires exploration. We vibrate, we self-actualize, we are reborn

I, guru.

I'm not sure we can be

I'm not sure we can be certain that the worst case scenario is inevitable. Yes there are grounds for pessimism, especially if we don't control the human population explosion and the reduce it. However there is no reason to suppose we can't do this, religion of course if a major obstacle to the essential and practical idea that we should breed less.

I have experienced some type

I have experienced some type of telepathy and dissolution of the individual while playing rugby, we got to the point of anticipating each others 3 moves ahead.

That's spiritual isn't it?

Sheesh! As bad as the Christians. Bouncing all over the globe to assert what? Atheists can not be creative?

This post is so disjointed and bizarre that it is not worth a response. Atheists can not be creative. WRONG Do your own google search.

More than 200 Upanishads are known, and they assert all sorts of crazy sht. There is no point at all in quoting them without actually quoting them.

This was a moronic post from beginning to end. Why don't you wade through it again and begin with a topic sentence that clearly states what you are going to talk about. Follow that with a bit of evidence for your assertion. This is how most normal people create an argument for something and then support it.

I am an atheist.

I am an atheist.

I don't see a contradiction between venerating a god like Shiva or Thoth and atheism, it is more about meaning of the arch-type and the literature pertaining to them. Atheism is about beliefs and only the Abrahamic religions are so concerned with what people think. The teachings of the Buddha are relevant whether the Shakyamuni Buddha existed or was made up by King Ashoka.

"I don't see a contradiction between venerating a god like Shiva or Thoth and atheism"

So you venerate a god like Shiva or Thoth, what the hell is that going to do for you?

I get it Daz, I was once on a spiritual journey myself once upon a time. You are seeking out philosophies that make you feel good. I'm OK with that, every individual has the right to explore their world.

But understand this, drugs are not the gateway to any spiritualism. Drugs just mess up the brain, and you will see or hear anything your imagination digs up. But drugs are not the path to any truth.

I'm willing to try anything,

I'm willing to try anything, I just hope that one day during my meditations that I make contact with the aliens. I think they are our only hope of surviving on this planet.

I don't see a contradiction between atheism and attempting to engage in telepathic communication with beings beyond out solar system.

As an atheist I do not

As an atheist I do not believe in imaginary beings or imaginary powers. I do believe that mankind is not the only intelligent life in the universe, but I doubt you will make contact with Mentor of Arisia.
