The only thing is it does not explain to ignorance the nature of the unknowable, it just give the ignorant a reason to stop pursuing or thinking about unknown things. Religion does give people hope, fear, support and in some cases guidance and purpose as well other things that generally attract the people who are attracted to it. And love to put a cap on things that question its own validity.
Some people I am sure are attracted to the excuses of ignorance and comfort afforded by such statements as "Its God will.","Only God knows.", or even "they are in a better place" and this alone may be enough to led them to the religious fountain they drink their bliss from. But I would not classify all religious people this way. There are different strokes for different folks.
So in summary, I have to say I don't feel its appropriate to sum up religion with such a simple statement. to do so would ignore the many different types of religions that exist end the many people who interpret their religions in different manners.
