An example would actually be Catholic priests who sexually abuse children. Protestant pastors, public school teachers, coaches, etc exhibit similar statistics as Catholic priests. Not to say that these are acceptable but the focus on the Catholic church is pretty unequal. I won't say unfair as it's actually fair for us to hold priests to a higher standard of morality.
@Jon the Catholic: "Protestant pastors, public school teachers, coaches, etc exhibit similar statistics as Catholic priests."
The Salvation Army has also been a major offender.
However, the Catholic church is the one that has most compounded these crimes by covering them up and allowing pedophile priests to hurt more children. The Catholic church is also the clear leader in terms of the scale, geographical scope, and history of offending. Misbehaving priests and monks are mentioned in Chaucer.
So? Logically it follows that Catholic priests would lead in numbers as the institution has been around for the longest time (almost 2000 years). But if you look at the percentages, they really don’t represent the entire group.
@Jom the Catholic: "But if you look at the percentages"
In Australia the Catholic church has admitted to a figure of 7% of all priests, which I believe is over double the average incidence for pedophile tendencies in adult men. What's the percentage in the Philippines?
If I was part of an organization where 7% of the staff were child molesters, I'd be questioning the organization's corporate culture and management systems. But before that I'd be handing in my letter of resignation and calling the cops.
Why do you think the age of the Catholic Church is relevant?
You mentioned the sheer number of child abuse cases. The cases would be more for an older institution, undoubtedly.

The number you mentioned of Australia seems high at 7% and that regrettable. Let's look at how Jesus fared in this regard. Out of 12 apostles, 1 of them betrayed him for a few pcs of silver. That's around 8.3%. We forget that priests are humans too who do so many grave things.
The percentage in the Philippines? I'm not sure. We have a lot of priests and the recorded number is 235 (not all pedophile cases) in the course of 30 years. Our priests' dirty little secrets, usually involve money.
