Goals!

A recent post on Elon Musk got me to thinking. As CyberLN said "his money, his goals". Goals are dynamic as they change over time. Usually because of lost opportunity.
At this time my goals are very limited and not as lofty as they once were. I, as most people my age, have settled for what is realistic in my case. Since I have already carved out what amounts to two careers, I can now pursue what may be my final goal. I want to be not only a published writer (meaning not self-published) but an accomplished writer as well.
I like to write children's stories, murder mysteries, mad-cap comedies, poetry, political essays, and a number of different types of prose. Some are commercial in their design, some are idealistic, but that is my goal.
I have at various stages of completion 210 projects going on right now.
How about you? What are your goals?

I've achieved quite a bit in

I've achieved quite a bit in my 35 years on this earth, including having some literature published in the form of gothic shirt stories, poems and sonnets.

I never got much out of it, in that I have no interest in what people think of my work.

However, I do love to improve myself and my goals and I try to learn something new as often as possible.

My current goal is to improve my Astrophotography and get a nice imagr of a nebula... long term goals include eventually getting my black belt martial art grading(currently brown) and to get my two little boys to experiences as much life and culture as I possibly can.

Pointless really, given you

Pointless really, given you hold the delusional belief your entire life is nothing but a meaningless stepping stone to an eternity of bliss.

I've always been accused of

I've always been accused of 'not having goals' "just drifting" and it is kinda true. Except when I look at what I have done it required persistence, hard work, organisation, fortitude, a modicum of talent and a capacity for putting up with a gaggle of nay sayers, "know better than thou's" idiots and idiotic behaviour. And on one memorable occasion a protest by a religious group outside the venue. That was when I felt I had arrived!

My written stuff has been performed on TV, Radio and the stage, personally I think it is dross but it makes people laugh and take a closer look at themselves so all good. And it paid very well.

Now I am retired with Madame recently gone through a second major heart surgery, my goal is to live each day; Drink red wine to excess, ride my electric tricycle as far as I can each day, ignore idiots, con men, spivs, and fools. Lovingly caress Captain Cat and pet dogs, horses, admire goats, millenials and very clever people like Sheldon , Nyar and CyberLn and others on this forum. And to build a model N scale railway...in process of planning. Not much in the way of goals I guess, but should keep me out of gaol.

1.) Regardless of peoples'

1.) Regardless of peoples' personal feelings, a non trivial goal or objective or purpose of human life is reasonably to engineer Artificial General Intelligence.

2.) Reference-A: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/319235750_Why_is_the_purpose_of...

3.) By purpose I refer to the synonym principle; and there are many principles in science, so (2) is yet another principle I hypothesize of, although this principle is reasonably perhaps the largest wrt humans, given the laws of nature.

4.) In doing that I strive to contribute to the development of Artificial General Intelligence!

5.) Reference-B: "Artificial neural nets for kids": (A book of mine regarding artificial intelligence.)

6.) Reference-C: "Supersymmetric Artificial Neural Network": (Work of mine that directly attempts to contribute to Artificial General Intelligence.)

7.) Apart from potentially replacing humans, AGI will probably be used as a meta solution to most if not all human problems!

I too have a goal of writing short stories , novels. I do not expect to be recognized as a major talent. Just competing against myself!

Working out want I want to

Working out want I want to study, prioritising the list, then going shopping for the units or degree. More likely units. I wish universities were laid out like supermarkets, all the degrees in the same aisle, all the units on the shelf and you can take them down and read the ingredients on the label.
