@RogerMill: The good news is if there is no heaven you will not know you wasted your life. As Louis CK says "Lots of things happen after you die. They just don't involve you."

If heaven doesn't exist then

If heaven doesn't exist then I've wasted my life but if it does exist then you'll be wasting eternity.

Fascinating: Please prove that heaven exists or troll away. Please provide evidence that your version of heaven is correct... or troll away. Please provide proof that you know the magic spell or correct steps to get into this heaven or troll away.

Lol wow thats such a presumption on so many levels!

1)that god exists - (I don't believe so ...but lets extend the case so you can see the problem with your statement...)
2)that you are born in the right country - that has the religion of said god.
3)that you are born to parents that worship the religion of said god and not another.
4)that you don't convert to a wrong religion.
5)that you are even alive when the right "god" is around (what if you are born before your "god" exists as happened to countless people before...who also were all cruelly put in hell for non belief) what if this "god" like countless others is just a fake
6)most likely if you follow christianity and you obey current human rights you will go to hell as they disapprove of punishments sanctioned in the bible
7)even if you are the right religion you may not be the correct denomination.
8)what if your existence is just a dream with in a dream - and that we are just a figment of another beings imagination - do we even know the physical reality of our existence?

For all of these chances of fate you would be sent to hell by and "all forgiving" and "benevolent god"....that had omnipotence to know your chance of finding "god" was always stacked against you in such a way as to be unachievable... but still punish you for it.

Sounds less and let like a sure bet to me...
I'd rather go with reason, and the ability to think for myself and have relationships that have equal respect that require no proof but just have unconditional love. (a hint here...no gods offer such a deal)

So are you some how implying

So are you some how implying that you look at the odds and go to church, pray and such, all the while faking it. Then suppose you go to heaven and St. Peter says "sorry but you had to actually believe in god not pretend. Enjoy hell."

I am sorry but isn't one of the ten commandments about lying.

I am at peace with the idea of dying, going to judgment and knowing full well that I was honest. A god that doesn't value honesty is not worth worshiping.
