All I know is that back in 2010, he called the same-sex marriage legislation in Argentine a "destructive attack on God's plan".

I think of the new pope what I thought of the old pope; pointless and corrupt.
This pope is latin american, and the catholic movement is very strong in many latin countries. That is an interesting comment amishka, and to be honest i would not be surprised of such thing being said by anyone involved in the catholic church.
So many people follow the pope as blindly as they would follow jesus. I remember seeing pictures of people kissing the popes feet and fainting over his presence. The fanatism allowed by the pope himself is ridiculous to begin with.
well to me he is just another close minded priest, he is against same sex marriage probably he is another paedophile, it doesnt matter who is the spiritual leader because the policy is always going to be the same intolerance...
to me he is just a new leader for a crumbling, obsolete, and hateful institution. Besides he is a bigot, he has attacked woman an gay rights...
He has the usual Catholic baggage, and probably a Jesuit's ability to waste an education.
