So basically in the sermon, he claimed that his bullshit religion owns everything from an emotion (love) to (a warped, unhealthy vision of)… sexual intercourse?! I’m pretty sure his nose must have grown very long from all the blatant lies he said during that, in which, from what I could glean from the sermon, he basically tried to make you feel guilty for rejecting his bronze-aged lifestyle.
Don’t worry though; it’s him, not you.
Breaking up sucks. I'm sorry you have to deal with this, but from your writing, it seems like you know your decision was made for the better. I was willing to not say anything about this guy, but wow he is batshit crazy lmao. You definitely dodged a bullet in this case.
Personally, I've dated a couple Catholics in the past and they have a lot going on in their minds. I've learned that a lot of their internal struggles can be easily transferred to the people they date and it can be pretty overwhelming to try to deal with.
When I moved to NYC, I started going to all kinds of secular events like story/poetry slams, exercise club events, beer/wine tasting events, themed festivals, raves, art galas, Ted Talks, science panels, ect. and it has allowed me to meet so many people of such diverse backgrounds and schools of thought. You have a lot of life to live. I hope that after you process all this, you can find people that are worth your time. If anything, I'm glad to be an acquaintance =)

Of course at some level his religious vomit disturbs me, but I hear that kind of shit all the time. But really disturbs me is how easily he seems to temporarily suspend all those beliefs so he can have sex.
I had this friend who was a very hard core, born again, evangelical Christian. She would tell anyone who was willing to listen about god's plan, the sanctity of marriage, etc; you know the type. One day I inadvertently discovered her having sex, with two guys at the same time; neither of which were her husband. After that, anytime she starting talking about god, religion, or morals; I'd have run away to keep from laughing in her face.

And I want to be clear: I don't think there is anything wrong with sex, premarital sex, or even "freaky" sex. It isn't the sex that bothers me, it is the hypocrisy.

Yet another example of how religious people just love to play victim whenever they find someone who does not share their worldview; I have even heard of very religious parents disowning their child for being an atheist and then seriously wondering why said child was “coming up with an excuse to estrange the rest of their family” by just being an atheist. Ugh. It just makes me nauseous. >:-(

Drunk driver. Almost killed me too. I always say "murdered" but most would say "killed" by a drunk driver. As far as I am concerned, he intentionally got drunk, intentionally drove his car... Thus, he intentionally killed (murdered) my family.

I actually agree with that and doesn't the law as well. Aren't drunk drivers charged with murder when they kill someone. All states are not the same CA has Implied Malice and Watson admonition. People who drink and drive are murderers.
Actually, he ended up being guilty of three counts of Voluntary Manslaughter. Most often, when causing a death in an accident, most drunk drivers are just charged with only manslaughter. However North Carolina tried one case where the drunk driver killed the father, the mother, the eldest daughter, leaving the five month old child the sole survivor. They actually won convicting him on three counts of First Degree Homicide. The winning argument:
"With premeditation, he purchased the alcohol, knowing it would make him drunk. With premeditation, he drank the alcohol, knowing it make him drunk. With premeditation, he got behind the wheel of his car, knowing he was drunk. With premeditation, he drove his car, knowing he was drunk and could possible kill someone. With premeditation, he murdered this family leaving a five month old child the sole survivor."
Come to find out, this was the same lawyer from Virginia who tried to convict the murderer of my family using the same argument. This time in North Carolina, the driver was convicted on three counts of First Degree Homicide. However, the State Court of Appeals overturned the First Degree Homicide for the same thing: Voluntary Manslaughter.
In my opinion, which is very biased, the laws should be Zero Tolerance with the Death Penalty. Even if a person blows only a 0.01 BAC and kills someone, then they should be put to death. Period. No Tolerance.

I can't disagree. There is no reason to get behind the wheel of a car after even one drink. People react differently to different levels of alcohol. It's simply and irrational justification that these dweebs pretend they can control a car effectively while intoxicated.

Same here. When I read several of the books of the Bible about half a year ago, I found it so amoral, irrational and illogical that like Arakish said, it just didn’t compute anymore. And btw, Arakish, you must have had an amazing father. If only I had been raised secular... by then again, my family is kind of secular, because due to reasons I still cannot fathom, nobody in my family other than me (all 4 except me are religious, as of today) been to church since about 2-3 months after my deconversion, and months before I had even told anyone- even during the summer.
You filthy sinners. I have been freezing my sperm since I was 13 years old. I even saved the old stuff in the brown jar that I used before I got a job and a refrigerator. Well, most of it anyway. A friend came over once and made a sandwich with strawberry jam because he thought it was a jar of peanut butter. He ate the whole thing so I guess it was not wasted. I have no idea how you guys will stand before God without your sperm and be admitted to heaven.

Attention Central: Update on Tin Man. He is on the verge of confessing to murder. There seems to be some question in his mind as to whether or not he is directly responsible for the Tim Man killings.
