I have just found this video online and thought I would show everybody here, Jefferson makes some excellent points and the video itself is powerful to say the least. I'm not sure it will be to everyones taste but I found it to be eye opening :)
Here is the link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEcvRKsmeoE
I couldn't find anywhere else to post this by the way so I had to put it here in the debate room!

great video, i dont agree with parts of it, but i like his energy and appreciate some of his advices...thanks Mattyn for sharing
I was surprised by how much I like this video! I agree with some parts of it, though I'm not really too sold on the religious aspect of it - I think our social nature is due more to our biology than "being created in God's image" or any of that. Still, I think I'm going to dig up some CS Lewis from my bookshelf (there's a lot, I used to love it when I was a kid), and see if I can find that reference to Hell that he talked about.
Doe anyone remember it? Which book was it in?
I don't know how I haven't seen this post, but I really liked the video. I feel the same way as the rest of you do, some parts I didn't agree with, while others I would fight tooth and nail for.
Thanks for sharing that link, he has some good points but I don't think I buy into all of it just yet.
For me, to be human is acting intelligently, doing things that are good, respecting the world and other creatures on it and continue evolving into better individuals.
To me, the most convincing way that we are "created in god's image" is in our love of creation. God created us, and we in turn seem to want to create so much.
I never heard that before, that's a pretty interesting concept!
The video was interesting as well as the ideas the creator is trying to share to the viewers.
I think to be human is to be able to have a meaningful life in this world together with other creations.
I think that's a rather simple and clear way to put it :)
I think that guy would make a great motivational speaker. I think a lot of the things he said were true and could be said to and for the benefit of atheist as well you know the openness, acceptance, honesty and love bits.
Lol, I think he *is* a motivational speaker, Zaphod...
but at least he agrees with you.
Oh missed that part, did not look to deeply into him.
I don't care for his message. I don't believe in a creator. No god. No creation.
True, but aside from that, he has a pretty valid underlying message, at least I think so. Just because you don't agree with all of it doesn't mean you can't agree with any of it.
Exactly Sammy! Some of it is very agreeable for many of us.
Yes, and thanks for sharing it :)
Yes, sometimes if not often, that no matter what we believed in or religion, we can agree on things. Just like facts of life and how it can be meaningful.
And that's awesome :)
