The Venting Thread.

Well, I figured we'd all have times we need to vent, and random, everyday things we may want the input of others on. Therefore, I present to you: The Venting Thread.

Please, don't bring squabbles from other topics on to here.

A good idea, but...

A good idea, but...

I've tried to keep a few "collection" threads going, to little avail and with little effect:

The dark side of Theism & Superstition
http://www.atheistrepublic.com/forums/debate-room/dark-side-theism-super...

Scientific advancements
http://www.atheistrepublic.com/forums/debate-room/scientific-advancements

Miracle advancements
http://www.atheistrepublic.com/forums/debate-room/miracle-advancements

But apart from a few sporadic contributions, there was no interest in such things. Sorry for being such a pessimist.

I don't like vent threads. In

I don't like vent threads. In the USMC in every unit, someone proposes a vent log. All it does is cause fights and disharmony. I banned them everytime I was made aware of them.

"I've got a problem with you

"I've got a problem with you people!" - Frank Costanza

I say this every four years. The Presidential Campaign makes me want to go expatriate. I feel like I am getting slimed. This year is one of the worst. Can't we do better?

Dems - Hillary tied you to

Dems - Hillary tied you to your kitchen chair, broke your throne and cut your hair. But, her beauty in the moonlight over-threw ya.

Pubs - Not gonna attempt Trump's parody. I don't really need to what with his natural talent for self-demise.

Slimed indeed.

------------

I suppose my on-going gripe is technology's grip on the challenged intellect of George Carlin's lesser than average stupid people for no tangible / observable gain, yet people throng to it like flies to a shit wagon. This includes people at all stations in life from global oval offices on down. A doctorates does not the genius make.

1. Weapons - Gain?
2. Drones - Terror in/from the sky - Personal invasion of privacy - Gain?
3. Human job replacement robotics - Gain?
4. Cell Phones - Personal movement tracking - subversion of privacy - Gain?
5. Cell Phones - Break down of societal norms; socializing - need for company of others; loss of a sense of community - Gain?
6. Internet - Personal behavior tracking - subversion of privacy - Gain?
7. Internet - Shadow community of a global virtual population leading double lives - venting the protagonist and antagonist in everyone; is it a behavioral factor leading to the violence that's otherwise inexplicable in deed and frequency the world over? - Gain?
8. Virtual Reality - CGI - Replacing actors and subverting the art form - Gain?
9. Digitized Music - Replacing musicians with knob-turners - subverting the art form - Gain?
10. World Food Supplies - Synthesizing / artificially enhancing of crops and meat products - Gain?
11. Pharmaceuticals - Synthesized drugs - Cheaper, cleaner and readily available heroine for addicts in countries offering free heroine to addicts - In other words, it's never been easier to be addicted for free. Kinda scary.

I can go on and I realize compromise is in every aspect of life. Of the top 11 above that I could quickly spew out, these are available to the common man of humble means. This means technology is far-reaching and can subvert an entire culture in less time than the span of a single generation. How does one keep up with the ethics and moral implications of its use? Where does selective human privilege to it's accessibility come into question?

Technology is advancing faster than the average simple-minded person has the moral/ethical learning capacity for its responsible use. The neighbor's drone hovering over your holiday backyard barbeque festivities, with a Go-Pro taking video, is an example. There is no law prohibiting him from such an invasion of privacy - yet.

Technology is going to

Technology is going to advance faster than ethics/morals. Technological change dosent require the convincing of people. Ethical and moral change does. All we can do is play catch up.

My vent for the day...

My vent for the day...

When you're in a long line of cars waiting to get off of an exit, and a car zooms up on the shoulder to pass all the cars. It's like...oh, yes, none of US are in a rush...only you. :/

Worst Day Ever that just goes

Worst Day Ever that just starts every Day when it come to Religion - You just can't explain anything that contradicts God in this City of Mine, whatever word that pops up that has the slightest sign of contradiction they just start blabbing, turning their heads and just not care at all.

Some just say "shut up, don't say it" - guess who said that? My MOM. She is not a devout Muslim like wearing a Hijab or whatever, but she has the straight up fundamentalist Mind.

I mean, one day I pulled up this Joke on rainy days when the Thunders showed up. I just heard the Thunder and said - "God must be having some fart problems", my Aunt and Mom, they just looked at me saying Bismilah or Allah-Allah.
Seriously, what the hell! Even Fanatics like Jokes.

You aren't really good at detecting the current emotion coming out when reading words are you?
*sigh* I've been here long enough to know that. - Do you get the emotion that the words try to transmit?
I know that already! - Do you get the emotion of Anger these words transmit?

Deforres's picture
No, I don't value emotion and

No, I don't value emotion and don't bother with recognising it.

A little vent, thinking about

A little vent, thinking about work tomorrow, and while I love what I actually do for a living, think I need to find another place to do it. I don't dislike my company or my boss, but it's become a very negative place to work, and management tends to 'lead by intimidation.' Never a good leadership style if you ask me. lol I hope I can find a good job in a more positive environment, soon. I've felt this way for over a year, and my performance has been rewarded nicely in a financial way, but a career isn't all about money, IMO. It's way more than that, I need to be around positive people who don't make you feel like you need to walk on eggshells to be around them.

Thanks for listening. ^_^
