Technological Augmentation- A Great Leap Forward, or A Fanciful Dream?

I'm not going to go on any long winded explanation. I simply want your opinions on the matter. I like to know what others think. Is such a.notion a fanciful dream, or the possibility of a great leap for human advancement and progress?

It's quite possible, but it

It's quite possible, but it seems that there may be a low demand for the augmentations if they require surgery. I would think that the clothing industry would rather absorb the technology, permitting the shedding and donning of various gains. Beyond that, anyone of the type to purchase plastic surgery might be enticed. As for the "great leap," it's the person who makes the leap, not the tech. Whether anyone bothers to use biointegrated technology to make such great leaps is more a thing to decide than a thing to ponder.

What do you consider

What do you consider "technological augmentation" to include?

Implants, replacements of

Implants, replacements of normal body parts with better, artificially produced variants. Augmentation of the brain by way of microchip like implants. Strengthening the skin by way of an artificial, self regrowing membrane. The human form, for all its great properties, is not at its full potential. The body is weak, the mind grows feeble with age, and, most prevalently, death. I'm not saying death is preventable, but I find it quite possible to, say, "Screw up deaths clock"

Apoptosis means that

Apoptosis means that ultimately, the only currently known way to cheat death would be to replace organs as they begin to die. Once you've replaced the brain, whethernot you manage to transfer the arrangements, do you remain the same person?

I never said replacing the

I never said replacing the brain. Who is to say we will not discover a technology of sorts that will allow us to revers or halt the aging cells. The possibilities, as I see them, are limitless.

Well, Xavier, since in so

Well, Xavier, since in so many ways we are already there, I'd say it is not a fanciful dream. I, for instance, have non-original equipment parts.
