An interesting little article in the US edition of The Guardian by Adam Lee regarding potential repercussions of conservative christian discrimination:

atheist should reconsider what they call and label as discrimination the Christian has a set of beliefs if they are bible correct they are entitled to there views.as long as it does no harm atheist should not attack Christians for that matter. This great republic under the first amendment provided the assurance of freedom to practice ones religion. Atheist should just go about in a civil way addressing the needs of fellow atheist.
"This great republic under the first amendment provided the assurance of freedom to practice ones religion."
Well, you see, that's not entirely the first amendment..
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." (Source: https://www.law.cornell.edu)
Let's go back to that first part, eh? "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." It's saying the *government* cannot intervene in Religious affairs. However, the people have the freedom to do so in a peaceful manner (which we are, by using words against religion [I.E Freedom of speech] throughout real life and the internet). So, according to the law of this "great republic", People are allowed to attempt to bring a stop to religion with our words under the first amendment.
why do you resent religion so much that you want to stop it all together.why attact it when you cant prove a negative?there will always be religion long after your gone you will never be able to staple it out.the Christian faith has been over 2 thousand years and will be another 2 thousand years no matter what you say and do.just look at china Africa south America these places are thriving look at Pentecostal churches the spirit of god is taking hold so know you can use all the tricks at your disposal but you will not stop religion nor gods sovereign will for humanity.
First "Atheism" means "Lack of belief in a god or gods". It has nothing to do with being against religion, it simply means that one lacks belief. What you are talking about is "Anti-theism", and it does not mean that all anti-theists "attack religion", although some do in a metaphoric way.
If you want to understand, for starters take a look at the thread "The dark side of Theism" and read some of those links. But that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Okay, lemme sum this up in a way that you *might* be able to understand.
Religious Pros: Gives people faith in hard times.
Religious Cons: Supports Hatred, Hypocritical in many ways, and "either you believe in it or you'll rot" logic that almost all Religions have.
Science Pros: Makes life tasks simpler to do, Can send us into space to expand across the cosmos, and it helps us better understand the world and universe around us without just saying "Because God",
Scientific Cons: Nuclear Weapons.
And, before you even bring up "But, Religion brings morals!" let me tell you one thing, that is subjective. You only think it's moral because you've been taught it all your life, and it *has become* your life, so you think it's moral (when it quite obviously isn't).
According to your religion, S.C., the Christ will be with you til the end of the age.
That age is the age of Pisces which will end on or around the year 2150 b.c.
We will then be in the age of Aquarius.
Who will be the "Savior " then ?
god is outside of time and jesus will return from where he left on the mount of olivesw Jerusalem Israel and we should be with him forever as he promised when he was here in 30 ad.there is only one savior for humanity and that I jesus Christ the anointed one with over 2.2 billion followers presently and which over 1 billion catholics.jesus transends time.
Those are a lot of empty words, unless you have undeniable proof. Also: "2.2" Billion? Only that many? Huh, if your religion was so "true" why doesn't everyone believe in it? Oh, wait, that's right. It *isn't* true! Those 2.2 Billion are, quite literally, only a fraction of the *7+* Billion on the planet, and why is that? Because like all the rest of the Religious in the world, they have been indoctrinated from birth with the "holy word" of their god(s).
what does your nonbelief have to offer the Soviet union tried to manage without God but they weren`t successful, there have been believers coming to Christ at all ages look how many lives have ben save from aa, na, sexual addiction gambling, prisoners life's changed. What does he humanist have to say ha?where I your answer, yes I've seen Jesus change lives for the better, you are only in your teenage years you know nothing about life.
Lots of religions help people all the time, but you have no trouble rejecting their religious claims out of hand; so you shouldn't be surprised when we reject yours.
So you're saying the Soviet Union failed because they had no state religion? Have you any proof to back up that assertion?
By the way, the U.S. has no state religion either, lots of countries don't.
"what does your nonbelief have to offer the Soviet union tried to manage without God but they weren`t successful".
Okay, let's go over *why* they were atheistic, or rather, why they aren't. They thought that their leaders were, quite literally, the one true god. Or, at least, forced to believe so.
Second, they collapsed because their "Union" realized that their communism was total crap, and that it wasn't getting anywhere. So, they defected from the Soviet Union, thus it's falling.
And then, you go way to far with this. "yes I've seen Jesus change lives for the better, you are only in your teenage years you know nothing about life." I may be in my teenage years, but I know what life is all about. It's about being a good person, helping those in need, and doing everything you can to put others before yourself, just for the sake of making somebody else have a better life. So they won't have to suffer, starve, or watch their loved ones die. *My* meaning is to make other people happy in any way possible, for the sake of making them happy. I expect no reward for it, the only reward is knowing that I saved another human being from suffering. *That* is the humanist cause, and if you are against it, then you, sir/madame/unspecified gender, are truly immoral.
Your definition of life would be to do good things so you get into heaven, and you call that a moral life? No, that's not morality. That is called doing good things hoping for a reward that benefits you and you alone, and that makes me sick to the bone. *That* is why I'm atheist, because I support true morality over doing good things in hope of a reward.
Jesus said iam the way the life and the truth, where do we disagree? I support my church and Christian hospitals jesus gave me the great commission to proclaim the gospel .
When and how exactly did Jesus give you this commission ?
