Is it true that Antony Flew, the philosopher, reverted his condition of atheist to pursue a career in christianism?
I ask this because some people thinks that he was affected by dementia.

Hi Blitzkrieg
I just googled it and apparently he started as an atheist but became a deist. Please note, I wrote "deist" - not "theist" and certainly not "Christian"!
A deist believes there is some kind of supreme creative being or force, but it couldn't care less sbout us or the universe. It is totally indifferent to its creation. It created the universe, it bailed and it hasn't been seen or heard from since. It doesn't answer its phone or send birthday cards. It doesn't' do child support. It has no idea how many children it fathered and it doesn’t care to know, either. They could all have died horribly for all it knows or cares. It's the ultimate deadbeat dad.
The deist's god is very, VERY different to the theist's god. Chalk and cheese. The theist - including the Christian- believes in a personal god who loves the theist and cares about his/her welfare. The theist has conversations with god and god talks back. God answers the theist's prayers. God is Good. Deists call BS on that just as loud and fast as atheists do.
I can imagine a few theists have tried to claim Antony Flew's conversion as evidence of an atheist joining their ranks - they 're always searching for prominent atheists in foxholes ( they'll even lie about it like they lied about Christopher Hitchens) - but they'd be wrong. Barking up the wrong tree. For starters, Flew stated over and over again that he was NOT a theist - and most definitely NOT a Christian. Atheists claiming Flew had dementia would be wrong, too.

Other interesting, prominent deists in history were pretty well every one of the American Founding Fathers, Albert Einstein and Charles Darwin.
Never heard of Anthony Flew!
I hadn't either, chimp3. Pretty cool, huh? Now we're ready if a theist lobs him our way like a grenade.
