One of the biggest tourist attractions in Australia is Uluru (formerly known as Ayers Rock). Aborigines regard the rock as sacred and have been trying to get people to stop climbing it for years. In the meantime, people continue to trek on the rock in large numbers. Some have hit golf balls off it, filmed porn videos, and engaged in all sorts of other naughty and disrepectful behavior up there.
Do we really owe respect to natural landmarks just because they feature in someone else's religion?

Nah, that's why we massacred the Native Americans. Problem solved.
@John 61X Breezy: "Problem solved"
The problem wasn't solved, because you forgot to declare North America Terra Nullius before you started.
But that's a side issue really, isn't it? Was it wrong to go digging for gold in the Black Hills because they were sacred or because they belonged to someone else?
No, only Christianity is sacred. Savages don't know what they worship, so I'm all for digging up gold and shooting pornos in whatever place they call sacred.

What about Islam? Were the Taliban correct to destroy the Buddhas of Bamiyan?
Should Christians destroy the Statue of Liberty? That looks a bit pagan to me. But it was very Christian of the US to destroy Hiroshima and Nagasaki instead of Kyoto (one of the original targets) because Kyoto is full of sacred Buddhist and Shinto sites.
The Statue of Liberty is fine. It is pagan, but we just Christianize it and call her Mary.
I don't need to respect their religion.... they do
