"Religion does more harm than good - poll"
https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2006/dec/23/religion.topstories3
I came across this story recently. It's old news, but I'm sure the facts are still current. The majority of people in the UK not only have NO religious faith, but also see religion as something harmful. Perhaps it would be enlightening to add up the assets and liabilities in religion's balance sheet.
Assets
Great hats (especially the Catholics)
Stained glass
Some of the music
Movies (e.g., Ghostbusters, Michael, Beeteljuice, but not Ghost)
Liabilities
Wars (e.g., Crusades, 30 Years War)
Genocide (e.g., Conquistadors)
Oppression
Misogyny
Obstruction of medical advances (e.g., blood transfusions, stem cell research)

Yes. I've heard of him mainly through his linguistic research. He's also a well-known atheist. Why?
