At first I thought the whore of babylon was the Roman Catholic Church but after doing lots of research I discovered alot of evidence that it's actually ancient pagan rome, the one thing that has me still questioning if the whore of babylon is the catholic church (specifically vatican) is the fact that babylon is identified as a spiritual whore, in the bible a spiritual whore is someone who was in a relationship (as in worshipped ) the god of the bible but then went after other gods and ancient pagan rome never worshipped the god of the bible, can anyone help me with this confusion

Please help its extremely important
The person or persons who wrote Revelations probably intended to allude to the Roman Empire of the time.
Then why is babylon called a whore
Probably because it was considered ungodly etc.
Its probably a reference to some old testament passages...…
One of the chief goddess' of the Babylonians (indeed most of the Mesopotamian civilisations...) was Ishtar /Inana ….. whose worship involved sacred prostitutes operating from her shrines/temples.....
….and of course during the ,so called ,Babylonian exile Ishtar would have represented a major competitor for the recently unreliable Yahweh....
I married her. Her name is Celia, Selinka, Orce, Thomas, Henobebe, Jenobebe, de Hartman. She is from Bolivia. If you see her.... run away!!!!!
The name may have been changed to protect the btch. Then again......?
THIS ISN'T A JOKE

Actually is a bit of a joke as you seem to be taking the maundering writings of John of Patmos seriously.
Anyhoo "Her full title is given as "Babylon the Great, the Mother of Prostitutes and Abominations of the Earth." many of the lines describing this figure are attributed by many scholars to be a description of Rome and the Emperor. "John" was rumoured to have been driven mad by the sack of the Temple in Jerusalem, the diaspora and his exile to Patmos.
The book of revelations was written in Greek and the style bears little resemblance to the polished syntax and use of metaphor as in the Gospel of John . Personally I think it was written by another anonymous individual. Most scholars date it to 96CE or thereabouts which collapses the argument that it is any way a prophetic document, but rather one written by a sad, demented exile terrified of actually writing inflammatory prose about Rome and it's Emperor.
So why you are thinking this 1st century prose (badly written at that) is important, apart from being an historical document? It has no relevance to events current past or future.

In another tract, Hunting the Whore of Babylon, we looked at nine arguments given by fundamentalist Dave Hunt for his claim that the Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon from Revelation 17–18.

It's No Joke: The whore of Babylon is whatever you want to make it.
"Hunt argues that the Whore "is a city built on seven hills," which he identifies as the seven hills of ancient Rome. This argument is based on Revelation 17:9, which states that the woman sits on seven mountains."

It's Rome
Other writings of the time referred to Rome as Babylon (Attis cults for example), and even other bible authors like Peter.
