I'd like to know what everyone thinks about their conclusion. I am sorry if i am late to the party on this topic and if there is another thread dedicated to this you can direct me there. Other data, points to an consistent increase in atheists across the world over time. This conclusion states that at a certain point atheists will ultimately decline in the percentage of the population. Essentially stating that while the atheist population will continue to increase we will see a decrease in % due to being out paced by religious growth.

I am suspect of those numbers, particularly the statistics about Muslims. In some places in the world, one must say they are Muslim just to stay alive.
There are several other factors that might influence the projections.
If the population curve continues (not to mention the destruction of our environment), we can start to expect even more conflict, starvation, thirst and disease. Especially in warm areas, where there is overpopulation and poor people.
Another factor might be that, even though our news media doesn't reflect it, the most frequent victims of Islamic war and terrorism are Muslims.
In other words, it's likely that we have a humanitarian disaster ahead...
When things go to shit and people feel helpless they tend to turn to religion.
You nailed it. Things go well, happy people and religion declines. Things turn to shit, the opposite. Religious leaders love disasters because it means more power for them and McChurch, copywrite. I fear another dark ages that we inflict on ourselves because of climate change.
@Anser
Unfortunately, I think your right.
That is the equivalent of trying to extinguish a fire by pouring gasoline on it.
Religion and fire have a sad history together.

...........or staying drunk because life isn't going well.
Yeah war fuels religions, how do you think the church manged to buy it's own country in the middle of the dark ages?
Apart from that there is also another major factor.
The problem of having a religion that promotes the idea of having as much children as possible.
Bat shit crazy idea that always results in famine and destruction.
The concept is simple, strength in numbers.
But it is a short sighted strength especially in an age that a button can do more damage then an entire army.
That is what you get with a 1300 year old religion, a 1300 year old strategy.
In my opinion action should be taken to stop this insanity before everybody suffers from it.
