Opinion on privacy? Analogy through comics

Opinions on the Civil War run? Mainly the legitimacy of the government tracking law abiding but potentially dangerous citizens.
I believe this is a moot point. Snowden proved they are already doing it and for some reason everyone in Congress thinks everyone should be spied upon

I think they follow the

I think they follow the principle:

Better to ask for forgiveness rather then permission.

Jeff, could you elaborate??

You asked: "for some reason

You asked: "for some reason everyone in Congress thinks everyone should be spied upon"

if there any semi-decent people there, they follow the principle:

"Better to ask for forgiveness rather then permission."

Personally it is a question, whether the pubic should know and decide for themselves about important matters.

That never happened before and never will it happen unless you seriously remove some aspects of democracy like letting the rich fund who gets elected.

Democracy as it stands now is a huge farce, where you have actors that appear to have authority when they do not.

So your congress is made up mostly of these people.

People(victims) that needed a lot of favors, backing and funding to get where they are.

If someone wanted to ruin them in this society, all they need is a false rape accusation and they are finished politically.

Basically either all the rich/powerful people agree for you to be there, or you don't stand a chance at all.

These "victims" of how democracy works are expected to do something about things that matter against some of the most rich and powerful people?

Understand that the world works much different in practice then from the theory.

So, Jeff, do you have any

So, Jeff, do you have any ideas on how America can get back on track to a better society? Logistically, I mean. You state that removing rich and powerful people from controlling politicians is an impossibility at this time

Jeff Vella Leone's picture
It is impossible without

It is impossible without changing how democracy works, you have to understand that the system itself was put in place by the rich and powerful to avoid something like the napoleon revolution.

Basically putting the responsibility of bad decisions on the people so the people cannot take it against the rich and remove them from power when the situation gets too bad.

The Greek prime-minister tried to do the same in the problem he had with the bail out of the EU.

He tried to put the choice in the hands of the people, the choice of accepting the eu proposals or not.
The EU did not want it and the prime-minister had to accept himself or be kicked out of the EU.

He just wanted to get rid of the blame if the EU proposals fail again.

To try to fix democracy, you have the problem of not knowing where to start.

Let me have a go:

1)
The only way to fix the corruption that is part of the democracy is to remove the people from voting 1 guy for everything.

Basically you have to remove some power off the political party and distribute it to qualified people in the departments, not people he chooses.(cut corruption)
The head of departments(ministers) should be voted by qualified people in that department not chosen by the political party.

2)
Then one of the most vital aspects is to create a government funded department for the electorate.
(Dam everything that actually works has a department except the most important thing)
Thus the propaganda is handled by the department and not by who has most money.
Cut the idea that 1 party says one thing and the other says the opposite thing.
(imagine the police without a department, being judge, jury executioner on the spot)
Politics is just a mess like that, the politicians have nothing to watch who they are dealing with to gain financial support.

Just one department, 1 piece of information on each party, basically the people choose 1 party for their proposals not for their scandals and personal attacks like it is now.

3)
Another important aspect is to send to school politicians, they are not qualified to manage a country since they are mostly lawyers or doctors.
You actually need to create an exam that anybody who wish to manage a county needs to pass to have a chance to be chosen as a possible candidate for the electorate.

I could go on,

I'm just scratching the surface here of all the major flaws the electorate has to keep the powerful in control.

Jeff................. this

Jeff................. this sounds a lot like how the head China party works right now. Or used to work. A little bit of both

Jeff Vella Leone's picture
I don't know how china works

I don't know how china works but those are basics if you want to have a country which is not ruled by who has most power or money.

Only Qualified people vote for positions that require a qualified leader.

The general public votes for a leader which represents them the most as a guy who takes the hard choices, but leaves the departments alone, thus he cannot mess with who gets what position and promotes corruption from top.

Basically the power of the transport minister for example accedes that of the president whenever the transport sector is involved, if however there is a hard choice which involves other sectors or the transport minister asks for the president to make a choice then yes, since the president represents the people.

Right now, the president has all the power and if he wants he can just turn off the switch of every traffic light and there is nothing anybody can do about it.
There would be consequences for sure but still, leaving such power in the hands of someone who is not qualified is just stupid, it never made sens and never will.

It works this way because it is much easier to manipulate/control 1 person then many.

This is also the reason why there are usually 2 major political parties, in some democratic countries, just 2 parties.

It's hard to invest in many political parties, 2 is more efficient and less expensive to find/control then many.
