there was never noah's ark
The Exodus never happened, the Jews were not in Egypt. This alone should be enough to make anyone skeptical of anything that appears in the bible before the Exodus; such as the stories about Moses, Noah, Abraham, Eve & Adam, the tower of Babel, etc.

Watchman, you know better. Use the dimensions in the Bible to determine the volume of the ark. The volume of 8 people and two each of thousands of different species, plus food for all far exceeds the volume of the ark. And how did Noah collect and then return polar bears, penguins, kangaroos, jaguars, fresh water fish? Too many dilemmas.
I always thought the concept of a talking snake was amusing.

This's what your foolishness is all about, why do you think of the history that time? Even now Sheep's hear the voice of its Shepherd whereas the same sheep never respond if you raise your voice before those sheep's as it's all the relationship between the donkey & a Prophet which you never understand. There're enough stuffs in the Bible pertaining to the present world which if you understand then lead you to know all that has been written in the Holy Bible is true.

Then there is the acceptance of slavery.
A gross waste of space, not only due to endless tales of senseless slaughter but of a whole paragraphs of mundane material repeated verbatim. When you think of all the good things, such as religious tolerance, that could have been slipped into a Bible-sized book, this waste of space--far from being a minor quibble--refutes any idea that a just and capable god wrote the book.
Lots of contradictions, even at the whole book level! Ruth entirely contradicts the totally racist book of Nehemiah.
God is fixated on this little band of people and plays with them just like a kid playing with his toy soldiers! He leads them into battle after playing tricks on Pharaoh to demonstrate who's boss. God reveled in his "glory."

A reading of the Old Testament makes it clear that a lot of holy books back then have not survived! God flunks as a librarian.

Nothing in the Old Testament tells us that it was supposed to become obsolete in favor of a later collection of holy books. If you overlook twisted quotes by the New Testament writers, it's pretty clear that the Old Testament does not support the New Testament! That doesn't surprise the Jews, whose ancestors wrote it, but it is certainly a big, smooth boulder in the basket of any Bible-believing Christian.
The murderous invasion of Canaan by this little tribe fleeing Egypt is either conducted when Egypt ruled the whole area or when Jericho, Ai, and other "conquered" cities didn't exist! Archaeologists now believe that the Jews were originally part of an outlying Canaanite population in the hill country that took on an independent identity. There was never any bloody conquest. It's part of Old Testament revisionism!
God, initially the Hebrew storm god version of Baal, seems to have had a lady friend even as Baal did! They both rode the clouds, hurled lightening, and had a consort. I guess that solves the male/female identity problem! That statue got tossed out of the old Temple by later reformers.

Greensnake: It always amazes me how adamantly some christians cling to their beliefs despite all the evidence (biblical inconsistencies and scientific discoveries) to the contrary. A lot of it can be blamed on childhood indoctrination, which they depend upon and strive to continue. Here in the states we now have Betsy DeVoss (U.S. Secretary of Education) wanting to indoctrinate children. I am curious to see how that plays out.
Old Testament were never ever lies but facts as history, if you want to know OT is true account of history than you should have to read the NT and understand so as to come to know OT is real. You're not even capable to prove your date of birth is true then how do you say something the ancient records of the Bible is lie? Remind that you have to depend on the records of hospital, Parents or Relatives so as to come to know your dob, there's no other way, similarly there're accounts of what happened in the past which you have to study and come to know the fact, when comes to know the Bible there's God's Spirit exist which you have to establish a contact so as to come to know the entire Biblical account is fact, in stead if you talk that the OT is lie then I can reasonable argue tat you dob is also lie and false which you have no way to argue that's true.
My DOB is attested by the attending physician and the hospital where I was born in a modern country with one of the best registry systems in the world. My parents also told me my birthday year after year, as did various uncles, aunts and grandparents. My birth was also announced in the local newspaper.
Obviously these sources, which date back nearly 65 years, are not as reliable as half-remembered Egyptian, Mesopotamian and Babylonian myths cobbled together around campfires by bronze-age sheep shaggers and goat botherers in the Middle East. So where should I look in the Old Testament to find out my true birthday? Is it somewhere among all the knowings, goings-in, and begettings?
As I said earlier I can simply reject all of those records as false & forged and you cant argue those are true b/c you're not an eye witness of your dob and understand the reality so as to understand the Holy Bible is true.

Well you do that small thing, Peter. All I care is that my records are accepted when I renew my passport or driving license. I don't have to prove anything to you. You on the other hand, appear to feel some compulsion to convince me that the Old Testament is not a toxic bag of lies, sadism and general monkey shit.
Truth is in the details, Peter, and serious scholars know that the Bible was written by men. You are lost in your own wishful thinking and denial, and cannot see the absurd morality, the silly history, the goofy science, the Babylonian cosmology, the failed prophecies, the waste of precious space, and the ocean of contradictions that make up a large part of the Bible. The requirements for getting to heaven are so botched up that you have hundreds of different sects with their own formulas. Any college kid with a major in English would have had the sense to put all the necessary requirements for heaven into a short chapter all by itself, that material being clearly stated but once. There would be no searching the 8 corners of the Bible and guessing as to whether this verse applied only in some special case or in general, or at all. The Bible fails at its most important task, that of saving souls!
Then there is Noah's flood, that recent, worldwide flood that is mysteriously missing in the geological records! The idea that Noah's crew of 8 could outperform several modern zoos with infinitely more and better resources is the hallmark of those who have totally lost their reasoning ability, who are disconnected from reality. Religion does that to your brain!

Obviously it was written by bronze age men seeking to justify things like rape, murder and genocide
itings are a woven together of history, poetry, prophesy who can understand it all.Is it literal or figurative language here or both.This bronze age nonsense has for centuries been peoples fascinations with credulity than anything else.
