Mount Sinai

I have been reading up some stuff about the Jebel al-Lawz being the real mount sinai one of the things about this place that keeps popping up is that the top of the mounting is black pretty much every one that defends this site suggests that this was caused by fire and apparently it is not volcanic either they say the rock is actually lighter coloured like the bottom half of the mountain but that the rock is actually covered in a layer of smokey soot any ideas of what this could be.

Your the one trying to prove a God came down on a mountain.
Can you provide objective evidence that a God exist.
Why do you keep trying to prove the exodus happen?
Are you really an Atheist, or possing as one?

Umm, I'm looking at pictures

Umm, I'm looking at pictures of Gabal Musa (AKA Mount Sinai) and the color of the top is the same as the bottom and surrounding terrain. Unless you saw a picture that was taken when a cloud passed overhead.

@Spud ….

A bit "cocky" for someone who relies on the creationist Ron Wyatt for his "researches"...…

and in typical "Wyatt" style …… its already been debunked....

It's as useless as arguing about where the Labyrinth of the Minotaur was.

Get this through your head: Exodus is mythology!

Not arguing simply looking for explanations these subjects are there and allot of theists are using them as evidences the reason they get away with the bullshit they do get away with is because people like you and sheldon just go blah blah blah vapid while all the bull shit just grows. There is a tone of bullshit in favour of these topics on the internet and not much in opposition i do think rebuttals are important and not the kind that just implies the word vapid.

Have these theists published their alleged findings in a peer-reviewed journal?

Yes, rebuttals can be important. But why are you just acting like a messenger? You have the internet and the ability to learn and research yourself. And if you have more knowledge, then you will become stronger in your position. Sheldon (and others) may even begin to respect you.

For example, your concern was a blackened top of a mountain. I Googled the present name of Mount Sinai, and looked at some pictures of it. It doesn't take a genius, neither does it take much time or effort.

The idea first came out in a book; "The book is “In Search of the Mountain of God” by Robert Cornuke and David Halbrook. "

PROBLEMS WITH THE JEBEL AL-LAWZ LOCATION VIEW (As you are incapable of reading.)
You should probably have someone read the following to you.

All this proves is that the Abrahamic religions are as bad at geography as they are with history and science and the maths is pretty much a mess too.
Losing the location of the Red Sea crossing is unfortunate. Losing the location of an entire holy mountain is just pure carelessness. (Apologies to Oscar Wilde)

@Spudnik

@Spudnik

I find this obsession with relics and locations puzzling. The Xtian propagandists who dig up all this pathetic shit seem desperate to find physical proof of god or Moses, etc., yet in the same breath they tell us that faith is the only way to know god. Hypocrites.

Xtian archaeologists remind me of Nazi archaeologists. They'd bury fake artifacts and then dig them up to prove the ancient superiority of the Germanic people. Like the Xtians, they didn't care much about genuine scholarship and even less about the truth.

Hi sheldon how are you doing

Hi sheldon how are you doing good to hear from you. It is disappointing to see you have no useful input which is a shame considering you usually have the best rebuttals . What do you recon shell got any ideas as to what caused the difference in colour between the base of the mountain and the top. I will just say i am not sure it was caused by vapid or not .

It's the source material, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

"I will just say i am not sure it was caused by vapid or not ."

Now that's disappointing, you've had ample time to Google the meaning of vapid.

While reading one of the

While reading one of the links, from Bible and Spade, about the controversy of the location of Mt Sinai I stopped at the phrase, "If Moses is consistent with his use of the word, and I think he is, the context suggests Jethro returned to the country of Midian'. This alone exemplifies the purely speculative and bullshit nature of the search for the "holy mountain".

Not only is the Exodus story a myth, it suffers from the centuries old and stubbornly persistent belief that the Pentateuch was written by Moses himself, which bible criticism of the past 2-3 hundred years has patently proven false.
The first four books, Genesis, Exodus, Numbers and Leviticus were not written down until after the Assyrians swept the ten tribes of Israel into slavery in 722 BC, centuries after the supposed exodus legend was supposed to occur.

Even then, two versions of that history, one from Judah and one by the Israeli refugees of the Assyrian conquest, were commissioned, then edited together, complete with the contradictions and evident errors stemming from the differences and jealousies of the two Hebrew nations, and packed up with a newly written fifth book, Deuteronomy, declared to be entirely authored by Moses, to comprise the first five books of the Old Testament.

My point is that referring to the bible for directions to find the geographical location of the 'real' Mt Sinai is no better than using Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to find Hogwarts.

"If Moses is consistent with his use of the word, and I think he is..." very scientific lol. Its perverse that theists try to manipulate history, geography, science and maths to try to prove matters they claim requires only faith alone.

edited for clarity
