But you shouldn't force any parents from not teatching their children religion .. cuz then we must say goodbye to freedom !!
Parents should be taught that what they do is wrong and that comes from , as i said , the educational system !!
As much as I'd love to see people present their children with multiple perspectives and then encourage them to choose once they were old enough to understand, I see no practical way for this to become a thing. In the same way that we would fiercely rebel if the government or anyone else tried to make us teach our children a particular religion when we do not believe, so too would believers were they somehow forced to do the opposite. And practically speaking, there would be no way to access and monitor private time at home to ensure such a thing, nor should there be. I hate that the indoctrination occurs at such a young age, but that is a family's prerogative.
I also don't see it as comparable to having a legal age to vote. Voting is participating in a public and group choice. Religion is personal and, in theory, should not affect others.
Necromancy at work.
Governmental mandates seem an overreach, but I think that children should not be baptised, converted, join churches? I know that when I was in 4th (or 5th?) grade I took what amounted in the Presbyterian Church Catechism classes and my first communion.
If the parents believe then it's unrealistic to think indoctrination won't happen at some level, but the overt and institutionalized versions could be avoided. I am just not sure how. I think the only thing organized religion will understand is money. For them to receive tax exempt status they need to prove they are not coercing children? Declaring such things child abuse? That doesn't seem likely, either.
I think indoctrination is evil. Not sure how we can eradicate it.
You cannot really "choose" to believe something - you believe something because it makes sense to you. It would not make sense to have a minimum age in which it is permissible to believe something.
However, I agree that parents have a responsibility to not brainwash their children, and to teach them critical thinking.
I think this is a brilliant idea but agree its virtually impossible of coming true in our lifetimes. Its possibly something the United Nations should take a lead on. The idea that a parent has the automatic right to choose a child's religion should be challenged and questioned. Indeed, it could be argued that indoctrination is a deprivation of a child's human right to choose their own belief for themselves at an age when they are able to do so.
