LSD

During the 1960s and 70s MILLIONS of people throughout the world experimented with LSD. Despite the propaganda spread about its effects very few people came to harm as a consequence of using it. Some of the lyrics of pop-songs (eg. the Beatles) were about "acid trips". Initially LSD was not illegal … an MP and a senior clergyman were even interviewed live on TV whilst "tripping". One of the reasons why it was made illegal was because of reports about gay orgies in which LSD was used.

So … what is an "acid trip" like?

Well … .if you're not visually "hallucinating" then you're not "tripping".

An example:

A thought crossed my mind that someone in the room was acting "childish" … she turned into a baby. Someone else, I noticed, had a large nose … his nose began to grow … cartoon like. Sometimes when I gazed at people whilst tripping they changed into a sequence of different people, different genders, races, ages. Sometimes people turned into animals. I was by no means alone in having these experiences … many people who took a trip had them.

One very curious experience I had whilst tripping was a sensation that my body had no substance … that I was a hologram.

There must be some of you here, surely, who know from experience that what I'm describing is a factual description of the effects of LSD?

It probably won't surprise those of you who read my posts that I "tripped out" lots, and lots of times.

Late 70's. I would not call

Late 70's. I would not call it experimentation though. So many people had tripped there was a users manual by then.

Millions of people still

Millions of people still experiment with LSD to this day.

I certainly agree that it being scheduled class 1 controlled substance in the US is beyond stupid and was politically motivated classification rather then based on actual danger. Just another example of how hypocritical some laws are. (Alcohol is fine and is available most anywhere and accepted and even encouraged socially, even though it is directly involved in 5 percent of all human deaths worldwide with countless other very serious issues.)

@LogicForTW: Alcohol is fine

@LogicForTW: Alcohol is fine

And so is tobacco, even though it eventually kills the smoker and probably those around the moron if used according to the manufacturers' instructions.

All drugs are risky. Illegal drugs are doubly risky precisely because they're illegal. There are no rules on hygiene, composition, concentrations, etc., so users don't really know what they're buying. Not all home bakers are like Mr. White.

My drug of choice is alcohol, but I think it'll be caffeine that kills me.

When I was in my 50s I met a

When I was in my 50s I met a young Greek teenager in a cafe in London ... who was sitting at a table eating coffee, spoonful by spoonful. I got talking to her. She said she needed psychiatric treatment and had come to England because she couldn't get any help in Greece. We went to the local A&E ... where they "chased her away" ... several staff complaining about her "expecting free treatment". She came back to my place ... where, for a couple of days, she lived on coffee (spoonful by spoonful) and honey!

I prepared her a meal ... she wouldn't eat it.

So I threatened her with a knife. I told her that if she didn't eat I would cut her up into pieces, put them in black sacks and leave them out for the dustmen to cart away.

It worked ... she ate the food ... by the end of the week she had regained her "sanity".

I contacted a Greek hotel owner I knew of (with her permission)... who arranged for her father to come over to collect her.

20 years later I ran into her in a bus station in a small English town. She was living in some sort of "alternative" community in the country and seemed very happy with life.

***************

A girl in a squat was causing mayhem ... her behaviour was very much "over the top". I went to her room ... where she put on a truly histrionic performance. I stood at her door watching her. When she "paused for breath" I said: "If you want a part in my film you've got to do better than that."

She laughed ... and "switched" personalities ... became "calm and reasonable".

*************

I visited a woman I knew who was a patient in a psychiatric ward. She was being disruptive. Shouting and brushing her body and complaining that she was being "attacked by thousands of fairies". When she saw me she calmed down and we went into the kitchen for a coffee. A staff member came in and gave her a "dirty look" as she walked across the room to the sink. She jumped up, furiously brushed herself and stamped her foot vigorously on the floor several times.

My response was to say:

"One squashed fairy".

She burst out laughing and "switched" to normal, clear-thinking behaviour.

Yep, I think we can all agree smoking is even more deadly than alcohol. Funny how much evidence people need to overturn what society deems acceptable.

The fight against religious tyranny is in a lot of ways analogous to the fight to prove the dangers of smoking a pack of cig's a day (or more!)

And even after it is common knowledge that tobacco/cigs are quite deadly when used a lot, people continue to smoke cig's because they get addicted to it and do not realize the danger before it is too late and they are already physically hooked to the nicotine.

There are no rules on hygiene, composition, concentrations, etc., so users don't really know what they're buying.

Yep, a powerful argument why pushing a lot of these things like lsd, other hallucinogenic drugs, marijuana, to the black market by making them highly illegal is quite likely more harmful then careful regulation. Washington, Colorado, California, etc all benefited from all the additional tax revenue as well.

Your body has no substance.

Your body has no substance. Substance is a temporal illusion. You are a process, an activity, a stream of living consciousness that has sparked into existence for a moment in time and soon will vanish back from where you came.

jack - does not work in the

jack - does not work in the mainstream and his theories are rejected. His assertion of consciousness having form is completely unsupported by anything.

String theory is not actually a theory yet. It's just this idea that theoretical physicists are playing around with. Calling it a theory actually does science an injustice.

So.... what was your point?

im wondering how much lsd u were using at a time,,, i never turned into a hologram or tripped hard visually on other people, my bff did several times, she saw me turn into medusa, my friend turn into a man beast demon w a tail and horns hooves,,, she saw that on the same trip, she was trippin on us, she was "puddled", probably 10-15 hits of liquid,,,

i did acid every summer (all summer) from 93 to 2001.... (acid was backpacked in in those days, was only around in the summer), i was always in a car when i time traveled ,,, usually losing 20-30 miles of the road trip....
ive also seen the night turn into day (at 3am) , and traveled back in time to 1400s china i became somebody else, in china, chinese, 6-700 years ago... all the rest was just the usual tripping... and laughing
