...people have been classifying themselves and others. I have heard it all, or at least I think I have heard it all. There is one on this board that has declared themselves something different every day or so. Hopefully, that have settled into a position that they can actually be comfortable in.
I have proclaimed myself belief wise and politically, but is that REALLY who I am? As we defiantly proclaim our allegiance to something are we EVER "all in?"
I for one am a very diverse person that never can be defined by one singular description. I am not a believer in any gods, but should that categorize me into a specific and not a generalization?
I ascribe to being an atheist and the reasons are these.
1) There is no proof of any god. No direct link to anything supernatural.
2) I am NOT agnostic simply because if you hold that there could be a god, then you virtually can't commit to ANY reality. Because there could be ANYTHING. There could be an invisible purple cow that hides behind the sun. Should I be agnostic about the mythical cow? To me, agnostic means that you just can't grasp reality and yet you just can't commit to the fantasy.
The people on this board are complex, even the stupid ones (they shall remain unnamed.)
So in general, I am an atheist. In specific I am so much more.
Remember "atheist" is a term that believers made up when they made up their god.
So correctly I am just a normal human that is comfortable with natural beliefs and not with wild fantasies. Everyone is born an atheist (for lack of a better term). You have to be influenced in some manner to believe in a god.

And there goes MykCob4, the most frankly-speaking guy in this entire forum to battle any religious asshole...
Perhaps a bit off topic... but your comment that "Everyone is born an atheist" reminded me about todays encounter.
When I was leaving from work two Mormons approached me.
(I live in Sweden, so I would kindly ask all you Americans to stop exporting your mor(m)ons)
Fortunately, they are very very polite and friendly.
I was also very friendly, but when I said that "I don't belive in any god", they asked me "how come"?
I replied "Well, when you where born, what did yo believe?"
The talkative of them tried to avoid a straight answer and started fabulating about believing he could see, could hear, etc.
So I kindly interrupted, "Yes, but you didn't believe in any god then, did you? That, we are taught later on"
They agreed and nodded (almost a little reluctantly).
Another point I mentioned is that all those who do have their faith in god and believe to have some personal proof, have nothing outside of their own mind to corroborate that with. And with all the conflicting beliefs, it think it's just more likely to be imagination.
We continued for a while, then they thanked me for a nice conversation.
I'd like to think that I shook up some part of their mind, to get them thinking.
You can't prove that God doesn't exist, you can't say a dogmatic thing as that.so don't be a fool, espousing that your ideology is superior to a theist.
Don't be a fool and proffer that the god people contrived centuries ago to explain what could not be explained is real. You will find yourself worshiping your imagination, the only place your psyche stores such hope, and realize you have nothing credible outside that realm of fantasy in the form of proof.
People still need to be reminded that their faith is simply a belief system that is not grounded in fact and, therefore, cannot be held out as such. Yet, they are so immersed in the fantasy that they simply cannot conceive there isn't some evidence of it existing in reality. The only reality is their desire for it to be real.
And there you go again simply agnostic, proving that you are as devout a theist as anyone. You should know by now that it is up to the believer to PROVE his myth, that it isn't superior in any way to espouse that there is no god. Atheism ISN'T in any way shape or form an "ideology."
Yeah, he seems to be backsliding (again)!
100% agree. I cannot prove that gods do not exist. So what? I cannot prove fairies and unicorns don't exist. What is your point?
People don't have to prove that God exists; God has to prove to people that he does exist. Since the first con man created his first imaginary god in order to control his more superstitious and gullible cave mates not one god of any kind has ever done anything godly. When a god of any kind shows up in all of its reputed glory and does the deeds he can supposedly do it might be a start. As Jesus' brothers told him in John 7:1-5, if you're the real deal come out and show the world and stop hiding.
People concoct all manner of supernatural causation for their existence and then, after some time has passed, part with it to lesser or greater extent as they become knowledgeable and comfortable with other explanations attributable to the physics of cause/effect realities of the natural world. But, then they turn on themselves, again, and stumble backwards into their contrivances because the view ahead is too hard to take - mortality. It's that give and take world of fantasy they dwell in and attempt to explain in terms they hope are accepted as laws in the real world. It's a very sad game of hope haunting their psyches into twisting and deflecting the facts of reality and, instead, focusing on those early contrivances that cannot be evidenced outside their psyches.
It's these edifices lingering and longingly seeking reality they assign legitimate-sounding terms such as agnosticism. It's a fool's game no one actually embraces in the furthest reaches of reality. It's the stuff of doubters asking for a kitchen pass just in case revelation flies its banner one day.
You are either an atheist with no belief in a god or you are a frustrated theist, which is another term for agnostic.
