If we are just created by chance and nothing else, then what's the point of living if in the end, we are just gonna die and be forgotten? If we are nothing but a bunch of cells and sperms that had evolved over time, then why must we care and love one another? And no, saying that we need others to survive is not an valid answer. I don't care about surviving. If life's is just about surviving, then that means we should only care about ourselves and nothing else. So that means that hospitals and medicine and things like that should not exist. Nothing in ever matters so we might as well die and not exist since nothing we ever do as humans will accomplish a single thing. So why bother? God does not exist. Heaven does not exist. Spirits don't exist. The only thing that exists is just us in a dark, empty void with a bunch of gases that we call the universe. That's it. So we should need to live a long, happy life since we will just die and soon be forgotten and wither away. Life comes from nothing, death means we become nothing, therefore life itself means absolutely nothing. I hate atheism.

@Michael Siegler
So you hate atheism, yet in your post, you haven't described atheism.
I hate religion, but I know what religion is. You don't know anything about atheism.
You made a cynical rant that is illogical and means absolutely nothing. Then you apparently blame these incoherent disjointed childish emotions on atheism. How fucking infantile.
Michael Siegler: "what's the point of living if in the end, we are just gonna die and be forgotten?"
That's a very difficult question. Maybe the point of life is to find the answer. Maybe we can discover meaning through our search for understanding.
But if you think life is empty and meaningless, and if that makes you depressed, why don't you concoct an elaborate fairy-tale about wizard in a sky-palace who'll give you magical answers to life's mysteries? Oh right. You already have. Enjoy.
@ Michael Siegler ...
" The only thing that exists is just us in a dark, empty void with a bunch of gases that we call the universe. "
++++++++++++“Sometimes it's better to light a flamethrower than curse the darkness.”
" Life comes from nothing, death means we become nothing, therefore life itself means absolutely nothing"
+++++++++++++“No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away...”
" I hate atheism."
No you don't ....... you fear it ....it reinforces your own doubts ..... and you think it might be right.
What you have described is Nihilism, just as much a religion in its way as any Skyfairy nonsense,
Most people grow out of it in their teens, it seems to have stuck around with you and caused all sorts of depressive problems associated with your desire to believe in the skyfairy theme but contrasting with your deep rooted habitual teenage angst.
As has been said, its obvious that:
a) you don't understand atheism
b) You fear that there is indeed no skyfairy looking out for you
c) Your terror in that there may be no happiness available to you without some effort.
I would suggest you get some secular counselling, get a hobby and some friends.
Alternatively ask a sensible question here in this forum , maybe
Can atheists experience true happiness?
How do atheists exist when there is no reason for it?
Then maybe you will see that we are all human, all seeking some answer...you might find terror is not behind every door or under every pillow....
You hate the fact a deity doesn't exist because it doesn't provide an arrogant delusional and over inflated sense of self importance, or the gooey senseless delusion that you are so important that the entire universe was made especially with you in mind, so that you can live forever? What a truly bizarre thought process.
You could always try pretending there is a deity, and that it used unspecified magic to create everything especially for you, it seems to work for some people. Some of them remain happy-clappy for years, and never face reality in any meaningful way. It doesn't appeal to me I must say, as I hate moronic vapid delusions.
What is the point of living? In my opinion, the point of living is Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Next question???
OP posted the same word for word on AF.
Another theist drive-by wanker.
No wonder he thinks life is pointless.
@Michael Siegler re: what's the point of living?
Well, if I have the chance to go for a ride on the world's biggest roller coaster, I'm there. Doesn't matter the ride won't last for ever, it was a thrill a minute while it did. It's a shame you can't see it that way.
Michael Siegler,
If you don't think that life is valuable and worth living you can prove that it is by a simple experiment. Go parachuting. Jump out of an airplane and I'll bet that you will deploy your parachute.
Life is sooooo much better when you have an invisible sky buddy, huh?
...
You might try having an invisible pet unicorn instead of some angry invisible foreign guy who spys on everyone all the time. At least the unicorn would be a bigger hit with children.
"If we are just created by chance and nothing else, then what's the point of living if in the end, we are just gonna die and be forgotten?" — Reading what you wrote, you don't seem to have a problem with us having evolved, but instead that we are not eternal.
Well, suddenly you find yourself in this situation called "life", and you are too busy living, interacting with other humans: family, neighbors, friends; playing, learning, growing, etc. Eventually you come to ponder about it: "Oh, it will end someday." What's the problem? Wasn't it interesting until then? Unless life somehow becomes an unbearable suffering, I can't see why one wouldn't keep on living till the end.
"If we are nothing but a bunch of cells and sperms that had evolved over time, then why must we care and love one another?" — Homo sapiens are social animals, we usually do care about and love at least some people around us. You are not *required* to *love* people, but you live in a society, and it works better when people cooperate friendly towards a common good.
"And no, saying that we need others to survive is not an valid answer. I don't care about surviving." — Most people do. (And you too, somehow, or you probably wouldn't be still here.) Not only that, living in a society we can make survival easier for everyone. Think about having to grow your food alone.
"If life's is just about surviving, then that means we should only care about ourselves and nothing else. So that means that hospitals and medicine and things like that should not exist." — Not if we are social animals who take pleasure and survival advantage from the presence of others. And if you want to have hospitals and medicine for yourself.
"Nothing in ever matters so we might as well die and not exist since nothing we ever do as humans will accomplish a single thing." — Yes, there is accomplishment. The fact that it's not eternal doesn't change that.
"So why bother? God does not exist. Heaven does not exist. Spirits don't exist. The only thing that exists is just us in a dark, empty void with a bunch of gases that we call the universe. That's it. So we should need to live a long, happy life since we will just die and soon be forgotten and wither away. Life comes from nothing, death means we become nothing, therefore life itself means absolutely nothing. I hate atheism." — You just hate that you won't live forever. Deal with reality and live happy.
1. We are not created by chance. (The occurrence of an event without design.)
Chemical processes are not chance events. They are predictable, measurable, and repeatable. No
chance involved at all.
On the other hand, what is the chance that a God would randomly think up an ever expanding
universe with 100 billion known galaxies in the universe and and another estimated 100 billion
beyond that. What's the chance that a magical flying sky being would pick one speck of dust
and create a life form? You want to talk about "Chance" look in the mirror.
2. Life is not about surviving. Life feeds on life. Life is about living and creating more life and nothing more. If you live, you perpetuate life. If you die, you perpetuate life. Life is fulfilled no matter what you do. What you really need to ask yourself is this, "Now that you have a life, what do you plan to do with it." You can either give yourself meaning or not give yourself meaning. Pretending that you have no meaning is just another way of not giving yourself any meaning. Life is taking care of itself. What in the hell are you doing besides whining and crying. What is the meaning of your life? The meaning of your life is to whine and cry about it not having meaning. It's just that simple.
3. With your rant on Atheism you are talking about "Nihilism," Most atheists are not nihilists. A Nihilist is a person who a person who believes that life is meaningless and rejects all religious and moral principles. Atheists do not reject moral or even religious principles. You believe the assertion "Treat others as you would have them treat you." comes from religious principles. "It doesn't" but lets call it a religious principle just the same because most Christians attribute it to Jesus and I don't know of an atheist out there who disagrees with this religious principle. So when you say "We should only care about ourselves." or "nothing matters" or "nothing we ever do will accomplish a single thing," Atheists just don't agree with you.
Finally: it is unfortunate that your life means nothing to you but don't blame atheism or atheists. Our lives have value, meaning, and importance.
