Congratulations Cyber, my own granddaughter is nearly 4, and the baby of the group. The only girl from 6 grandchildren, and she's hilarious, you could sit and listen to her play all day.

Thank you all. I went to meet her this morning. She is delightful. Elfin and beautiful. Healthy, for those who understand, her APGAR scores were 9 and 9. Mama and daddy doing well despite 40 hours of labor.

40 hours of labor? Yikes!

40 hours of labor? Yikes! Which god did your kid piss off?... J/K ;)

Grats! And I will always root for new life, especially when this particular life has a great shot at being in a well educated home free from religious tyranny. That I can only assume will occur because she is your granddaughter.

I don`t see any mention here

I don`t see any mention here of you thanking GOD Almighty. He helped in a great way. Where do you think new born come from?

@Faith in God: Where do you think new born come from?

It all began with the birds and the bees.....

However, you're right that god's name is frequently invoked at the conception stage.

@FIG RE: Where do you think new born come from?"

Dang, FIG. Didn't your mommy and daddy ever teach you ANYTHING? The baby obviously came from the STORK, you silly man. Golly-gee! How can ANYBODY in this modern age NOT know that???

FiG, you wrote, “Where do you think new born come from?”

I think they come from their mommie’s uteruses.

Forty hours?! That's a long

Forty hours?! That's a long time.

Our first child took 30 hours. She was born in a large public hospital in Tokyo. I really suffered, and I think it was pretty hard for my wife, too. I was apparently the first husband to attend a birth in the history of Japanese obstetrics. They kept telling me to go home, we'll tell you when the kid's out, and I kept saying no, I'm staying right here. So they made me an honorary midwife and made me put on a midwife's smock, which just about strangled me. But I got to stay and hold my wife's hand through it all. I never realized a woman could have such a strong grip.

The child that was born that day now has two kids of her own. When the first was due, she asked me if I'd give her a present. So I said of course, anything you want. I ended up paying for a caesarean.

Hah, wow. First husband to attend a birth in the history of Japanese obstetrics. That is pretty friggin cool.

And your daughters sense of humour while going through labor pains. Solid gold!
