The lie about ghost.

Over the years I have been bombarded with tales of ghost. Almost everyone I know claims to have seen or felt the presence of a ghost. Christianity is based on the belief of ghost, not just "the holy ghost." You can meet any stranger and they will be willing and have no qualms whatsoever in relating a personal ghost story. They aren't embarrassed the least little bit it telling you a fantastic illogical, improbable ghost story. Never mind that almost everyone can easily be explained away or with further investigation aren't personal accounts at all but rather a story that they heard somewhere and just internalized it.
There are famous ghost stories that actually make for entertaining TV complete with narration from a famous personality. One example is the "Lady on the road." You know the one, where a driver is driving late at night and sees a stranded girl soaking wet. He stops and gives her a ride. She doesn't speak just answers questions with a nod of her head. When the driver finally stops, he looks over and the girl is gone and the seat that should be soaking wet is completely dry, and the blanket he gave her to keep warm is neatly folded, completely dry and lying on the seat.
I've heard that story or a variation of that story a hundred times or more from people that claim it happened to them.
Here's my problem with ghost stories.
1) There is never enough information to make a logical conclusion.
2) Almost every story is a variation of a story I have heard before.
3) The TV programs investigating ghost NEVER and I mean never prove that there is a ghost, their conclusion is subjective at best and basically bullshit. The promise they make at the onset of the program is never fulfilled.
It's the same with monsters, angels, aliens, and UFOs.
So just for fun, tell me your best ghost story that you've heard or think that you have experienced.

Ha Ha very funny, now do you

Ha Ha very funny, now do you have any other stories about ghost?

Yes. In fact, this happens

Yes. In fact, this happens quite recently. My mom, who, keep in mind, is an avid believer, said that she had seen and felt the ghost of a family friend that died not too long before this. I asked her if her seeing a ghost could have been a bit of "spottyness" caused by staring at a candle for too long (she claimed this happened on a night when storms had cut the power out). She swore up and down that she had seen his ghost, and that he had also spoke to her and patted her on the shoulder. Now, just for clarity, when the lights came back on about 30 minuites later (she contained to claim he was talking to her and patting he shoulder), we all noticed that two flies were extremely interested in a bit of mustard that had landed on the shoulder area of her sleave, presumably when we were making sandwiches for dinner. I'll let you come to your own conclusions about that.

I've seen lots of crazy stuff

I've seen lots of crazy stuff in my life, typically in low light conditions or out of the corners of my eyes. I tend to not put much stock in such things.

Religion often attempts to

Religion often attempts to fill in the blanks of what is not known. There are many things that simply cannot be explained. We must as atheists simply accept this and say I don't know. This gives us credibility when we do make an assertion.

Correction: There are things

Correction: There are things which cannot be explained at this time. This does not mean that they will not be explainable in the future. It just means we don't have the technology/methods/knowledge to explain them right now. Remember: people in the dark ages did not understand the tides, nor did they know that lightning was plasma.

Sir Random you are again

Sir Random you are again correct. Thank you for the clarification.

There are folks who identify

There are folks who identify as atheist who also believe in an afterlife, those who say we have been visited by aliens, who believe big foot is real, who are sure they have seen ghosts. None of it means they are not atheist. The only thing that atheists all have in common is no belief in a theistic god. Period.

....... She's looking up

....... She's looking up definitions. Checking them twice. Gonna make sure we're talking about this stuff right. CyberLN is coming to town.......(And you can count on it!)

Okay everybody!!!! But do you

Okay everybody!!!! But do you have any wildly entertaining GHOST stories?!!!

Sir Random's picture
Wouldn't it have been more

Wouldn't it have been more appropriate to capitalize the "entertaining" in that sentence? But that aside, I do know a particularly entertaining one. It's about a man that kept asking and waiting for an entertaining ghost story so long that he died of boredom, and then began to haunt anyone else who did the same. But that's just an unfounded rumor.......

Ha ha funny.

Ha ha funny.

I'm sorry, but I honestly

I'm sorry, but I honestly couldn't help it. I really don't know any ghost stories. Any time someone starts talking about ghosts or spirits I tune out.
