The Bible is a book that teaches us witchcraft. The power of words over matter. Now the Bible is a work of fiction. It is a truly made up story about fictional characters. It is like Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings or The Lion, the witch and the Wardrobe. It is truly a masterpiece of fiction. Study it and learn from it. It is a good book to teach us to love everyone in the whole world equally forever and to be friends with everyone in the whole words. In the beginning was the word and the word was God and the word was with God. Excellent. That means that every word is good because God is good and every word is immortal because God is immortal and words create us. Words have physically power over matter and our bodies are made up of matter. We all matter too. No one deserves to die ever and no one can ever bully anyone because no one can ever call anyone a bad word ever. Define every word and love everyone because no one can ever harm you ever. Everyone loves you forever naturally on first instinct so enjoy loving everyone and loving reading all books in the world including the bible because all books are good books. You can always use words to defend yourself, free yourself from any prison and stop yourself being killed forever. Words have magic power. You can never lose with words. Words are always good. Enjoy speaking words and doing well in life forever. Enjoy living forever and ever dying. Reincarnation is a good word as is the word ghost. Both words mean no one ever died ever. Every word created is good word and only good words can be created ever. So no one can use a word to bully you ever. You will always understand words forever. Good luck and have a brilliant perfect good live forever and never die ever. I love witchcraft because it is evidence that no one can ever die. All words are the truth. The Bible says that Jesus is the way, the truth and the light. So the word Jesus mean the way, the truth and the light and Jesus is the word made flesh to dwell among us. The bible is built on metaphorical speech. It is a very long speech about witchcraft which can be used forever to create endless fun forever.

Hello Annie, and I wish you a happy holiday.
I'm confused. You are logged in as an atheist, but the post tells me that you give credibility to the bible, and believe in such spiritual things like witchcraft.
As far as the effect of words, I have a differing viewpoint. I do understand that words can hurt, and that each person has a different tolerance towards the effects of words. I come from the military and construction world, where everything is in-your-face and brutally blunt. You learn not to get your tutu all fluffed up just because someone said something that could hurt your feelings.
For myself, words are just a medium of communication and do not carry any "power".
What he said ^^^^^^^^^^
I also come from a background from being in the military and construction worlds. David is correct in "everything is in-your-face and brutally blunt." As the owner of a landscaping architecture business, I was "in-your-face and brutally blunt," especially on the job sites. There is almost nothing, as David put it, that will "get my tutu all fluffed up just because someone said something that could possibly hurt my feelings." The only things that would get me into a viciously savage state of anger: Me wife and daughters. Since they are no longer alive to defend themselves, I shall do so with ferocious abandon. Of course, I would have to apologize for any language I would use in doing so, but I will not let anything stop me from being beyond "offensive" in my words. If it is directed at me, I just shrug it off. Nothing offends me, excepting anything said negatively about me wife and daughters. If that happens, it is time to throw down like World War Three.

Hi Arakish, I hope you are enjoying today and I hope you have a lovely day tomorrow too. No one can offend anyone using words because every single word that can be used is a good word and only notions can offend someone and a notion is
a conception of or belief about something and if a notion offends a person, it is because the person believes something that is not true about the other person because it is impossible to hate anyone ever.
Thank you David. I wish you a happy holiday too. I hope you are enjoying your holiday too. I love everyone in the world equally and very much every day. Because of this, I like to be nice to the person who wrote the bible as I love the person who wrote the Bible too even when the bible is seen as a work of total fiction (a story that is not true). It is absolutely interesting fiction. I don't agree with all the stuff the bible says is wrong to do. I believe that everyone should love everyone forever and be friends with everyone forever even friends with dogs and cats and other animals. I don't believe anyone should be ever stoned to death for anything including adultery. I think adultery is okay because it is okay to love everyone and so it is okay to love more than one woman and man so marriage is something that should be for everyone to enjoy with everyone so that everyone can be friends with everyone forever. I love talking to people who come from military backgrounds and explaining to them that it is okay to love everyone even people who say or do things that hurt your feelings because you only have to listen to people's words and define them to understand deeply what they are saying and realise that no one tries to hurt anyone's feelings ever. They just love to talk a lot and if you listen carefully to what they say to you, you will realise that they are not aiming harsh words at you. They are actually just communicating their feelings to you and you just need to find out what they are trying to say and keep loving them no matter what they say. Even if they tell you that they hate you, find out why they hate you because no one actually really actually hates you they are just sad because they might think you hate them a lot and are trying to hate you when they don't hate you because they think they are supposed to hate you,. A lot of the time people believe things that are 100% not true about other people and that is what causes people to try not to like people and to say horrible things to people that they don't mean and wish they hadn't said in hindsight. No one wants a war with anyone because everyone loves everyone and the only disagreements is when people believe stuff that is not true about each other. That's why words are important. All words are nice and good words to use but all words require us to use them with good notions. For example, if someone calls someone who had sex with her husband a bitch, she used the word bitch with a bad notion because she did not know what bitch means and thought the woman who had sex with her husband did not like her when the woman did not know her and knew only her husband and if the woman knew her, she would like both her and her husband equally and there would be three way love and harmony. Bitch means female dog ad bitch is therefore a good nice word as female dogs are good and nice and loyal. So if someone calls someone a bitch. They are saying that the person is a female dog and therefore is metaphorically referring to the person as a female dog in character which is a very nice compliment not an offence. People just don't know what words mean all the time. No one is trying to harm anyone in this world ever. So we can all be friends with everyone. Words all carry a good power. The power to heal people of all illnesses. Actions are controlled purely by words and without words there are no actions. When you tell a dog to fetch a stick, the dog brings the stick to you. When you tell a dog to sit. The dog sits. When you greet someone, they smile at you unless they believe something that is not true about you that is detrimental to their image of you. So the action from the word hello is a smile. Have a nice Friday, David :)
If you really want to study the effect of words you need to get away from all the supernatural bullshit and do something that actually works. Albert Ellis ABC's of Rational Thought. Magical bullshit or mystical words just don't fly.
I agree, people should also learn the art of brevity. Nothing more off putting than a wall of text. Paragraphs are not a bad idea either. Woo woo superstition is the very antithesis of precise word definition. The words I "love" are the ones that have a tangible definitive meaning.
Hi Cognostic, I hope all is going well for you today and I wish you a great remainder of the day. Bullshit is poo from a bull. Cute! It is nice to poo. Now I want to say that I believe in the word supernatural being a good word as well as the word bullshit being a good word. I like to get to know more about supernatural stuff. Supernatural means (of a manifestation or event) attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding or the laws of nature. So supernatural means that something happened which science can not currently explain because we have not yet discovered how it happened. I am interested in the supernatural events because I had experiences of supernatural events. I have seen through walls before and I have seen a ghost walk before. These are not yet explainable by our current science knowledge which believes that dead people cannot walk again and we cannot see what is behind the wall with our naked eyes. But these events both happened in real life so current scientific understanding is limited and so are the laws of nature and we need to progress in scientific understanding to going beyond its current limit.
"Supernatural means (of a manifestation or event) attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding or the laws of nature. So supernatural means that something happened which science can not currently explain because we have not yet discovered how it happened."
It is irrational to make an assertion based on not knowing something. This common logical fallacy is called argumentum ad ignorantiam.
The definition of supernatural doesn't validate it's existence at all, anymore than magic being defined as the power of apparently influencing events by using mysterious or supernatural forces evidences either magic or the supernatural.
"these events both happened in real life so current scientific understanding is limited "
Not at all, if you want to believe these rather absurd claims that is your right, but you can't cite science as flawed because you can't demonstrate any objective evidence for them for science to examine. What's more your claims have no explanatory power at all, you have offered nothing but the bare claims.
quod grātīs asseritur, grātīs negātur, what is freely asserted is freely dismissed. Or as it was popularised by the late author and polemicist Christopher Hitchens, what is claimed without evidence can be dismissed without evidence, this is an epistemological razor names after the late author.
Many people make such claims for supernatural events, yet not once has anyone demonstrated any objective evidence for anything supernatural, this does not indicate a flaw or limit to science, anymore than science is flawed because it can't evidence mermaids or unicorns.
The Bible is not a good book to read or learn from.
...and that endless paragraph, gives me a headache just looking at at.
Agreed.
NewSkeptic: "...and that endless paragraph, gives me a headache just looking at at."
Complete concordance.

@ Anne
Just testing, but if I were to call you a "Fucking Retard," that would not be offensive?

@Anne: It is a good book to teach us to love everyone in the whole world
The bible is an instrument of terror and mental torture. I first encountered god's mystery book of magic and murder in my first days at a state-run primary school in England. The teacher was some kind of fundamentalist Christian who took delight in terrifying 5-year-old kids with the most gruesome stories she could find in her book of death.
God's murder of the first-born sons of Egypt was a special favorite. All the first-born sons in the class, myself included, were traumatized. We also learned about stoning, burning, nailing, and cutting babies in half. We learned about hanging captives' arms on the city wall. (We thought arms were upper limbs. She never explained that the word also meant weapons.)
I suggest that J. R. R. Tolkien's book "The Hobbit, or There and Back Again" published in 1937 is a much superior read compared to any bible. It is a saga of an episodic quest encompassing personal growth, sacrifice, and heroism.
The book has never been out of print.
Hi Anne,
I like your energy and spirit. Your posts are a tad bit misguided though. The effects of words are endless depending on the person and its wrong to say that they cannot offend.
