Kentucky Gov in favor of no marriage licenses to gays but not bills

I'm coming across a lot of interesting articles today. Sorry I couldn't summarize the title in 70 characters.

Below is the link to the Kentucky battle over same sex marriages. The governor was all in favor of the county clerk refusing to let ANYONE in the office issue marriage licenses to gays. He did NOT however; want the state of Kentucky to pay the clerks legal bills.

I'd be in favor of doing away

I'd be in favor of doing away with all requirements for marriage licensing. When are the frigging Christians going to learn, "Separation of Church and State." Religion has no place in government.

Makes me want to move to

Makes me want to move to kentucky and be a clerk, and after I get the position, announce that is against my beliefs to issue marriage license to anyone but same sex couples.

Just to see how people rationalize that I am not allowed to do that, while they are allowed to have clerks that block issuing of same sex marriage licences.

What gets me is this: When

What gets me is this: When has marriage ever had anything at all to do with Church. I don't care how many churches you go to, or get married in, you are not married until the Government says you are. Nothing Religious about it. I can go to a government office and sign a paper and I am married. No religious involvement at all. So what the fuck do religious beliefs have to do with anything? I see a connection nowhere between religion and marriage. Hell, If we followed the teachings of the bible we could have multiple wives and steal them from our neighbors.

Or rape their young virgin daughters for a new wife after paying the father about $200 (50 shekels of silver).
