Is it moral to force men or women to wear veils or any particular garment?

I ask this question, because forcing people to do so, seems to go against the notions of freedom, liberty, equality and fraternity. It is an insult to our fiduciary duty to each other.
In many countries, be it a religious, political or social custom; women and men are forced to wear particular garments, veils or beards are two examples of this.
Does this practice of using force go against our fiduciary duty to women and men?
These Golden Rules exists in most religions and cultures.
No one likes to be forced to do anything, this is irrefutable.
In some cultures, force is used to have men and women kowtow to the culture or religion. This is a poor and immoral ideology.
I believe that obliging people to submit to any political, social or religious norm, --- without a just cause, --- is immoral.
Do you agree?

The exercise of force is only justified to protect oneself or others from harm. People are entitled to set dress codes for their private property, and to limit entry to those who conform. However, the state has no business telling people what to wear or what not to wear in public places.
Veils are a tricky subject, though. The face is an important means of identification for things like driving licenses and passports. I think in those situations the safety/security issues shoud trump the religious sensitivities. Walk around wearing a tent by all means, but if you want to drive or go through an airport check-in, be prepared to show your ugly mug. I'm sure god won't mind.
Thanks for this.
What of Muslim men forcing women to wear certain apparel?
Be that because of custom or religion.

No one can force you to do anything if you have the guts to resist.
That seems so easy to say. Perhaps, though, it would be a tad more accurate in some circumstances to say, “no one can force you to do anything if you are willing to get hurt or die instead.”

True, but there might be a high price.
Ask the 5,000 or so Muslim women who are honor killed yearly.

cut to the chase you mean Islamic head/face shit you mean
its not what but why.
whilst the qua'ran does not say its mandatory & it originally made sense why women were told to do it (going to the outskirts of town at night to pee) its taken on a whole new meaning to many & shifted responsibility for sexual control onto women
in this regard alone it is so dangerous, wrong & perverse it must be stood up against.
iran pre revolution says it all when hundreds of thousands of women protested in the streets
chorlton
It makes more sense to let women use a pot de chamber. A P pot.
That takes the male subjugation out of the equation and I think the husbands, even back then, would know that that is a better way to protect women from rape.
