At the bright side I heard Saudi Arabia will be allowing woman to compete in the Olympics. About time they entered the 19th century.
The Islamic problem is a complicated thing.
1) Terrorists are NOT fighting for Islam, they are fighting for control of the Islamic world.
2) It is motivated by disenfranchisement. The Islamic royal families have abused and disenfranchised most of the population in most Islamic states.
3) The distractions: Islamic terrorist use The state of Isreal, and the west as distractions, blaming them for moral decay and that that moral decay has caused the strife of their people.
It is true that western corporations HAVE indeed exploited the land and the people of the middle east but the root of the problem lies centrally in the abuse by the leaders in the Islamic world.
Take the "Arab Spring" in 2010. These were a series of protest against the rulers of their nations. These destabilizations started out as a protest for freedom and equality, but it allowed Al Queda and ISIL to encroach and establish footholds and sanctuaries for terrorism in many areas. Also, there is a septarian element. Sunni verses Shia. That is also a distraction from the central issue. Siding with Russia is a bad thing. It only promotes more hatred against the west and will turn the war on terror into a holy war attracting more religious terrorist.
I don't know the answer, but it must include more freedom for the people and individuals of the region. It must include eradicating terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Al Queda, and ISIL. It must include reforming the local governments to respect the citizens. It must include getting rid of dictators and despots, not backing them.
I have fought there. I know that people are essentially the same all over the world. The majority are not terrorists or even freedom fighters. They are just families trying desperately to survive. Most don't want to even see a firearm, let alone be forced to use one.
The issue isn't whether or not Muslims in general are violent extremists, simply put, their not. The issue is what does Islam preach? Most Jews do not abide by all the wicked doctrines of the Old Testament/Torah/Talmud etc. But those doctrines are still there, and they make up what it means to be a Jew. In the same way that the Qur'an and accompanying Hadiths, make up what it means to be a Muslim. And one does not need to be in the middle east to understand Islam, otherwise it undermines the central claim of Islam, that of being a universal religion.
I do not condemn Islam as a whole for the behavior of someone who just so happens to be a Muslim, except when that behavior reflects some doctrine within Islam itself.
I don't know if you've read the Koran or not, but even the most decent Muslim families will kill you if you commit Apostasy. It's written in the Koran itself that apostasy is punishable by death.
It's not about how they treat other religions or people, it's about what they do to their own when they decide not to believe in Islam anymore.
Yes I have read the Qur'an, and some of the Hadiths. The Hadiths is a collection of writings about the sayings and doings of the prophet Muhammad, (Abu Baker the third Caliph collected something like 30,000) It is important to note that the command for killing apostates, does not come from the Qur'an, it comes from the Hadith. Because the differences between Muslim denominations is centered around which particular hadith they hold to be authentic, not all Muslim families believe in the murder of apostates.
This is not to say that the Qur'an is all rainbows and butterflies.
It's all bullshit, koran and hadith and old testament and holy babble and every other nonsense holy book
^ He's right you know.
It's always interesting to read the thoughts of combat veterans. It does however, make me feel like a freeloader with 0 perspective on geopolitics.
You aren't a freeloader. You don't have to be a military vet to serve this nation. I say "thank you for your service" to all sorts of people. Community organizers, volunteers etc, all sorts of Americans.
I don't like anything about the Islam, I'm always disgusted by it.
The way they bow to a fictional Tyrant God;
The way they pray;
Their language;
Their traditions;
Their Prophets.
They have no place in Europe or any other, let them stay in the Middle East or Asia if they want, but hell no in my Continent.
Substitute ANY RELIGION for Islam and I agree with your comment above
It's a good thing that a billion fanatics don't follow the Jewish Babylonian Talmud or there would indeed be hell on Earth. It's the worst of the lot.
All this religion is harmful for humanity Islam is a violent religion you see whats going on in Iraqi and Syria how Christians are being maimed and killed for there beliefs.Most of the places where Islam is settled is a mecca for violence and trouble.Hre in the USA my president is trying to do something about it but is facing stiff opposition from the liberals and progressives.If something happens here, they will have blood on there hands.
That is an odd idiom to use (will have blood on their hands) considering the US's long and sordid history of military adventurism.
@simply agnostic
Terrorist kill muslims at a rate over 100 to one. Christians aren't particularly singled out.
Trump is just scape goating for people like you. He could care less about who people are and what they do as long as HE gets what he wants, which is fame and fortune.
Why do you care about christians anyway? Shouldn't you care about people in general?
I don't think that you have ever been anything but a redneck christian. You keep lying about who you are, but every issue you comment on you are decidedly redneck christian.
@ simply agnostic
Text book confirmation bias.
You should really do some research into your beliefs...
