I have previously posted that hydrothermal vents may have provided some of the conditions where units of non-life chemistry were established that later on could have been aggregated into living cells.

Now comes another study indicating that parts of a critical component of living biochemistry, the Krebs or Citric Acid Cycle, could have been catalyzed by inorganic molecules in the absence of enzymes and cells.

The thought that, in the foreseeable future, we really may be able to understand and explain abiogenesis is exciting beyond words.
