It sounds a lot like religion.
religion is a product of politics. Especially the theistic religion.
@ Jeff Vella Leone,
Religion is politics writ large.
It can be both. :P
Don't worry Vincent. God knows everything and will punish all bad politicians, as he is always fair.
"Sounds like religion" what a fantastic answer XD
There has to be a way of deciding how the place is going to be run. A necessary evil, unlike religion, which is an unnecessary evil.
I don't mind Politics so much......
BUT I do have a deep and abiding loathing for almost all professional politicians. (scum sucking vermin every one of them)
I am often reminded of the scene from the Lawrence of Arabia film ,in which Sheriff Ali tells Lawrence that he wishes to become a politician....... Lawrence replies ....
"It is a very low profession."
So how can you have politics without politicians?
Would you rather have dictators? Or monarchs?
How else are you going to run the place? Or do you prefer anarchy?
Politics and religion share a lot of similar characteristics. However, it seems that one can do away with religion but not with politics.
@Nutmeg...
So how can you have politics without politicians?
Obviously ,by definition you cannot.
Would you rather have dictators? Or monarchs?
Both dictators and monarchs can be effective ,but they are a very risky option ... my personal preference would be for
neither...........
How else are you going to run the place? Or do you prefer anarchy?
No , I do not prefer anarchy....
But you are right..... there must be an administration...
If you read my post you will see that it is not all politicians I despise ...
it is just those individuals who insinuate themselves into government with a view to making it a lifetime profession .
They usually arise from a privileged class .... arrive in government .... almost straight from university ...usually with no discernible skills ,relevant qualifications , experience or anything exceptional about them.
They then settle down and put their snouts in the trough and can not be moved whatever misdeeds they are caught out in.
Professional politicians.
Speaking of politics and politicians, I have a question that may slightly be off topic. If there is going to be any form of government or administration, what do you think should the qualifications be? And to relate this to the present situation in my country, what do you think is more important that a person running for a position should have: the heart to serve or the brains to lead? This has been a debate that's been going on here since the election campaigns. Also, do you think that a person's religious belief or the lack of it can influence his ability to lead? Do you think that an atheist will make a better leader over a religious one (or vise versa)?
