Due to monophyletic classification of life you are everything your ancestors were. You are a eukaryote, a deuterostome, a chordate, a vertebrate, a mammal, a primate, a monkey and an ape and a homo sapien. ( this list is not all inclusive btw, there are many more subsets that I skipped over). It just so happens that the smallest clade we are a part of is that of the great apes. Ourselves, and all of our common ancestors. Really a quite fascinating thing taxonomy is.

Funny side note: Flamenca occationally gets an earful of biology. We've watched quite a few videos on or around the subject of human evolution and this includes videos on bonobos. Sometimes she now says: " you're my favorite ape." One day we were actually discussing possible reasons for why people take offense to being called an ape et cetera (this exact situation). And here we are today offending people... with facts.

Well, I know enough about the Evolution, biology, and genetics to know from whence we all come. Even my wife did and she would call me her "favorite ape" also.
Actually, I think it is only Michael who took offense. Me, I was just trying to be funny. I have had a few serious debates with people here and other forums, but seeing the way TM, OM, and Q behave, I just wanted to let my funny bone loose.
Me, I find anything science based extremely fascinating. No one in my family can understand how I can sit watch, using their words, "that boring bullshit." That right there shows the difference between Absolutists and Atheists. Especially Atheists who are also rational and scientific in their interests.
Maybe Flam can teach me some more stuff about biology as she gets those earfuls...

I think that's a pretty cool coincidence that your wife also called you her favorite ape.
I wonder if she ever said anything like this after one of those "actually..." moments ( as I call them, when I proceed to make a statement as scientifically accurate as my knowledge permits): "...uhh, always so accurate..."

@Cognostic, go to your profile, click on the picture of the horse, then edit and next "select file" and you choose the picture from your phone/computer.
Once you see the picture loaded, you scroll your profile all the way down and press "save". I think it takes a few minutes to refresh.
