Mike DeSario's God is the God of The Holy Bible which demands that people stop all sinning and obey God and The Holy Bible and
contend for the faith
or go to Hell forever and suffer forever and you can look up on Google Mike DeSario standingthegap.
I watch on http://www.youtube.com/ Greg K and Occult Think Tank videos Both of Whom are the same person.
I heard that if God exists God is all knowing.
I worry about religious, The Holy Bible etc. bullying so that is why I am asking the question below.
My question is if someone is trying to force me to follow
Mike DeSario's God and claim ''Jason it is better for you
to follow Mike DeSario's God just in case He actually exists
because if you obey Him and die but it turns out He is not real
it is better than you die and not obey Him and it turns out He is real''
is he or she telling the truth whether Mike DeSario's God is actually
#1: real
or
#2: not real
?

@nigella4me......
It appears that what you are presenting is Pascal's Wager......
"the argument that it is in one's own best interest to behave as if God exists, since the possibility of eternal punishment in hell outweighs any advantage in believing otherwise."
link:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascal%27s_Wager
If you want a refutation try this.....
"Some critics argue that Pascal's Wager, for those who cannot believe, suggests feigning belief to gain eternal reward. This would be dishonest and immoral. In addition, it is absurd to think that God, being just and omniscient, would not see through this deceptive strategy on the part of the "believer", thus nullifying the benefits of the Wager."
You say you worry about this sort of thing ......
I would counsel calm....
there really is nothing to worry about...
the bible is a demonstrably fabricated book of myths and stories hammered together by men for their own purposes....
thus the god of the bible as you term him/her or it does not ,indeed cannot exist......
However it is not my remit to try to convert you or to confirm you as an atheist ....these are decisions you must make for yourself....so I will leave it there.....
Others will be along presently.......just ask if you have questions.....
Nobody has the right to bully you or coerce you into following this obvious fallacy, which is known as "Pascal's wager." If god is a fantasy, which is my opinion, you'll be wasting your time. And if god is real, you'll be committing an extra sin by pretending to believe something you don't.
Fortunately evolution has equipped you to deal with this kind of bullying. Keeping your middle finger extended, fold the other three fingers down and hold them under your opposable thumb. Then point the middle finger in the direction of whomever is doing the bullying.
Jason, this is very uncomplicated... tell whoever suggested you live a lie in the hopes whatever god they represent will let you 'cash in' later:
1) Such a "god" (presuming he's real) wouldn't be worth your time since he's fine with insincere followers.
2) You also prefer not to associate with people living such a lie since if they'll lie to their "god" they'll lie to you as well.
3) Now you have to question their reliability, if they'll suggest you live such a lie how can they even be trusted?
Then tell them to never bring the subject up again if they want to continue enjoying your company. If they do bring it up again, run like the wind!
How is anyone forcing you into believing anything?
A gun to your head ? Say what you have to say to free yourself and not be harmed. Atheism requires no martyrs.
Anything less than a gun to your head? Gather up your courage and tell them to fuck off.
Exactly! But starting out, questioning his inner self, maybe "fuck off" should come after the confidence within. I say "fuck off" but I'm 60 years old and have a lot of practice. I grew up in the 70's when Jesus freaks were on every corner. You couldn't go to the airport without being confronted. They drove me absolutely nuts. Today, I get random, LDS and Jehovah at my door, I think they are finally learning to bypass my home. But those who are brave and feel they can save me, lol, I just ask for their address so I can come by with my little books and pamphlets. I don't have books and pamphlets, but they don't give me their address.
I was lucky because there was never a question in my mind whether to believe or not to believe. My parents took us to church and I went to sleep in the pew. They paid off the church for my first communion because I wasn't about to learn the stupid prayers (I was 5 years old). They sent me to Catechism to learn about this great God or Jesus and the nuns sent me home because I didn't want to know. It just seemed so silly. I didn't like the sad characters. I didn't like the goosebumps I got when I was around that stuff. I don't know, just wasn't born with that belief gene. So I didn't know the story that all the Christians believed in until last year. I read their Bible to try to understand why anyone would be crazy enough to believe in that stuff. Didn't help. Now I think they are even crazier than I did before. What's funny is most have never read their own holy book.
If I made it all these years, you can. You have an advantage compared to my time period. This generation is more open and understanding. What helped me, but impossible to acquire by anyone else, is I was so oblivious to the so called norm, that I didn't know people looked at me as a bad person for not believing or a different person for not following a majority. Majority only rules in lunch decisions and voting for a crazy president. Opinions are yours, no majority needed. I just stated my opinion and was on my way. I took my stand on things and that was it, period. I didn't get involved with how others felt about my opinions.
Fear from not believing in a God is an oxymoron in a way. Each religion builds their great and good God, so if he/she does exist, he should not be concerned whether anyone believed he existed. His concern as a great and good God would be his marketing techniques not who is going to this heaven or hell idea. If he does exist, I'm sure he has started on another planet somewhere using Geico writers to push his product. So fear is what it's all about. Control of the masses, as Marx dwelled on. The way to get fear out of your life is to look fear in the eye. If these so called God or Gods exist, would you really want to go to their eternal place? I wouldn't. None of them have the morals I find important to me.
@ Nigella4me - Lets postulate another hypothetical scenario ;
1. You succumb to "pascals wager" and believe in Mike DeSario's God. After death you realise an afterlife exists and so does God. But God is jehovah not Jesus and as you know all too well he is a jealous God (as he claims) and is pissed you believed Jesus was God. Now because you were deceitful and you disobeyed him you have 2 strikes and so your worse off if you just hadn't believed.
2. You take into account the above and believe that jehovah and Jesus are both God. After death you find out the muslims were right. Allah is God. Now he is pissed you believed 2 gods other than him...... your screwed again
3. Considering that you now begin to believe jehovah, allah and Jesus are all god. But death teaches you of the divinity of "Durga Maa" (Hindu goddess). Now she is pissed because you believed in 3 false gods and were too sexist to even consider a woman as God... so now you are 4 times worse of than if you just didn't believe.
4. By now you are beginning to wonder how many more gods to consider but on the safer side you being believing in Durga man, jesus, jehovah, allah. But the hereafter tells you that the true god is Amon Ra..... The egyptians had it right ??!!!
5. Fine now you consider Amon Ra along with the others but on waking up in the other life you find you are in Hades and zeus was the true God and zeus is known to be a******. So your still in trouble........
........ How many true gods do you think you can believe in.....
NOW CONSIDER THE ALTERNATIVE.
You don't believe in any of the Gods.
You take responsibility for all your actions including disbelief in God after his explicitly telling us to do so. Death awakens you to his presence and you are being judged.....
Would I be rewarded for being true to my conviction and showing integrity. or would I be rewarded for just covering despite my lack of belief.
Would you rather that your children do what they believe is right or rather follow the herd because it is safer despite knowing it to be wrong?
I believe it is how one may express themselves. You must show confidence with all your opinions, no matter the topic. I have been an atheist since birth. I was born in 1956. I have never wavered. I have never felt over-powered or bullied, but then, I didn't care what others thought or felt. If I was the only one in this whole wide world that was an Atheist, I wouldn't care one way or another. No matter what your preferences or opinions are about anything, they are yours and you have a right to them. The stronger you are upholding what you believe, the less people fight you. Now, Christians will never stop being intrusive, but you can end the conversation quickly. I don't indulge in religious rhetoric with Christians. It's a waist of time. I've read their holy book from beginning to end and I'm sorry I did. It's a book filled with hate and absurdities. I read it because I have never been happy with my opinion of Christians and Christianity. I looked at it as a weakness and it is not. I have taken Anthropology classes to try to understand the belief process of a God or Gods. So I thought maybe I should read the Bible. Well...........jeez! Now I am very confused about why people would believe, lol. The worst book I have ever read. Friends even asked me to stop because I was so depressed. So, by no means should you have any worry about steering away from that mess. You are you're own God. Be strong, be good. Do good things, be kind. We all have a right to be here. We all have a right to our opinions. And I have built a lot of respect from all beliefs because of my strength to stand by what is right for me. I don't run around yelling, "I'm an Atheist" or challenge the world. I am just happy within me. We don't have to prove ourselves or our opinions to anyone.
