@HumbleTom: out of all 1,763

@HumbleTom: out of all 1,763 known/recorded historical conflicts

That number seems incredibly small, and the Wikipedia article you cited says nothing about the methodology or criteria used.

There's been continual warfare since the dawn of history among groups ranging from Celtic tribes in Britain and Western Europe, to the various Middle Eastern Kingdoms, Native American tribes, and Maori tribes in New Zealand. Japan went through continual warfare until it was united under the Tokugawa Shogunate in the early 17th century. Even in preliterate cultures like the Maori, the wars were still recorded as part of oral history.

If we define recorded history as starting around 6,000 years ago, that total equates to one war every 3.4 years. Even in the 21st century, I doubt we've had a single year without any conflicts.

TH has been removed, huh?

TH has been removed, huh? Well, I wasted a reply or two...

Another note, I do not think we have had any time where there was not a conflict going on somewhere on this globe...

"RELIGION IS IMPORTANT?"

"RELIGION IS IMPORTANT?"
1. Which religion? It can certainly be argued that 90% of the religions, known and unknown, are completely irreverent, whether or not they were once important.

2. How are you defining important? Certainly religions that have killed off more people than Hitler have some importance on the shaping of the world we have today. Religions that killed scientists or locked them away, or completely killed the Golden Age of Islam, are important. Religion that interferes with government, abortion rights, passing out of condoms, and gay rights are important. Who would argue with that? But what exactly are you trying to say by the use of the word "Important?"

I do know this account has been removed, but I suspect the person still read these replies:

Religion is "important," billions of people have believed the various religion lies, and made it a central part of their lives. But that does not give religion any authenticity, it does not score any points for anyone that an atheist (me) says religion is important, it just obvious.

In comparison, I will use sugar.
Sugar has been deeply involved in people's lives for a very long time, some of the very first trading and trade routes was based around sugar. Today billions of people have access to sugar, even in remote and more poor parts of the world, however sugar, especially in a highly refined state is more like a drug, and it has negative effects. We should not say in anyway sugar is great, or authentic valid and should be incorporated in our lives, instead just the opposite, we should cut out highly refined "easy" sources of sugar in our lives as it has many negative effects on our health and well being.

@LogicforTW: some of the very first trading and trade routes was based around sugar.

Sugar was the commodity that triggered the start of the Atlantic slave trade. Black gold from Africa was used to produce white gold in the Caribbean. Even the Church of England was a slave-owner with its own estates in Barbados run by the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts. Slaves owned by this missionary outfit were branded with the word "Society".

I have read and recalled some

I have read and recalled some about sugars involvement in the atlantic slave trade, but I did not know about the church of england and slaves being branded with the word "society."

Everyday it seems I learn more in the seemingly bottomless barrel of f'ed up shit that various religions have done.

And I can thank Algebe for

And I can thank Algebe for reminding I had learned that about the slave trade. Just another item in the long list of why religion is great from when I was still a child.

corsair leader - believe

corsair leader - believe nothing that cannot be proven

You aren't going to get very far with a rule/postule like that.

corsair leader - looking forward to presenting some extraordinary factual evidence for all to examine

I've very curious to hear what you have to say. But I'd like to point out, in general: factual evidence can't be used to prove anything; I think you have inadvertently set the bar too high.

V.S.

corsair leader - what i express from here on is what i believe. not proof but a possible belief derived by using 1 of our gifts called intelligence.

That didn't take long.
