There are thousands of Gods. Which specific one are you thinking about? God is just a title and not the name of any specific deity. If you want to get straight with Crepitus don't eat foods that cause excessive gas.

No one named "Jesus" existed before 1632. A couple of con men pulled that name out of their butts.

Not much. Haven't been in one in years.

Yeah, like Alembe said. While some of these can be fun to answer, it DOES get pretty dang old when we never get responses from the "college students" who start the "surveys". With that in mind, I do believe I will sit this one out until I see if Lindsey interacts any at all. Not gonna hold my breath while waiting, though..... *strumming fingers on table*....

Churches can do some good things, but for the most part would be better if the religion part was taken away and they were just good people doing good things for their own sense or morality and virtues.

Nothing at all. There are millions of Gods and I haven't the time. If you are referring to the butchering, murdering asshole in the bible, he can stay locked up in prison for the rest of his life. Why in the fuck would I want to be "straightened" with someone as horrible as Hitler? What a stupid question.
How would you describe Jesus?
Why would I describe him at all. There are no historical records of his existence contemporary to his life. If he existed at all, he was an itinerant apocalyptic preacher, just like the other 6 preacher/prophets that actually are mentions in historical documents. The best guess is that the Jesus story is a copulation or these real preachers that actually existed and of which we have actual records of. Apollonias of Tyana being one of the more popular. In short, no one can describe Jesus. We have no actual records of his existence.

Churches are businesses. They thrive on the ignorant. They steal money from the poor. They make false promises based on fairy tales and fables to con people out of money. No church in the world does anything if there is not some profit for them in it. One picture of a bowl of rice in the hands of a starving Ethiopian child is worth 35 million dollars to a Church organization. Just get that picture and watch the money roll in., Churches are non-profit and they do not have to expose their finances. They are more unethical than any major corporation in the world today.
Thank you for responding, this was a last minute assignment I really appreciate those who took the time to help me out. I really would rather not go around a mall asking people about their religious views. These were questions that my professor provided so I just copy/pasted them, but the question of being "straightened out by God" does sound ridiculous in this case. The questions were to be asked of non-Christians, so other theistic religions would have an answer, but not atheistic views, my bad, I should've revised the questions.

A) Raised theist, saw the light, converted to atheism.

A) Living, loving, making this world a better place.

A) I do not believe in fictional creatures. Nothing to straighten out. I exist, a god does not. That question is like asking how my sex life with my TV remote is.

A) There was some dude that hung around with 12 tough guys (carpenters, fishermen, thief) and a prostitute. If it walks like a duck, it is a crime boss/pimp/con man.

A) A relic of the past that no longer serve the needs of society. Most sit on prime real estate. Sell them and give the money to the homeless and starving.

Hmmm.... Looks like everybody already beat me to all the good answers, so there really isn't much more for me to add. Besides, it would seem you already have more than enough responses to complete your assignment. Hmmm.... Well, I suppose I could at least reinforce the fact that you really should specify with which god we are suppose to "get straightened out." There are only a few thousand different gods, so even just a little hint would be nice. Of course, that is aside from the fact it is an incredibly silly question to ask a bunch of atheists. If these questions are indeed from your professor, please be sure to thank him (or her?) for setting you up for failure. Judging by the "extensive thought"... *cough-cough*... put into those questions, I somehow doubt he (or she?) can even spell "atheism", much less knows what atheism really is. That's okay, though. Not your fault.
Oh, hey, since you are actually coming back and interacting a bit, I was wondering if you would not mind answering a quick curiosity question. You say these questions are for a "personal research project", right? Soooo, what exactly is the overall goal of this assignment? What do you hope to learn from it? Because if you are not attempting to learn something from it, then what is the point of doing it? Like I said, just curious.
The questions weren't specifically meant for atheists, just non-Christians, so I should have cut that question out, our professor gave us the freedom to revise questions, but I didn't because I'm swamped with final papers and decided to just copy and paste the questions. The question was meant to be for whatever god/gods the person answering believes in, but that's irrelevant in this case. I could have asked atheist friends but this was the fastest way to get typed answers and to just get this assignment done. The overall goal of this assignment was to gauge the opinions of people who are not Christians and view people in a different light, a more tolerant one. It's not so much a personal research, as it is an entire class assigned to do this for a grade, even my agnostic classmate is doing this. I appreciate your civility in asking these questions.
