Hail Satan???

So I was browsing the news online today and found a link to this article of a church of Luther in Columbia.

Whilst I find this as laughable as any other theology, it'll be interesting to see how 'tolarent' some sides will be...

Any thoughts?

Reading the article it sounds

Reading the article it sounds similar to Anton Levay's Church of Satan and the Satanic Bible. There's not enough info beyond the promise of sex and money to make any real comparisons. Maybe more research later after shopping.

If christians can have different sects, so can satanists.

"The bible, that’s god book, as far as I know the devil hasn’t brought out a book yet, haven’t heard his side of the argument. God’s just writing shit about him, and the devil’s being the bigger man and saying I’m not even going to comment, talking shit about me like that" - Jim Jefferies

Neither the church of Luther

Neither the church of Luther or the LeVay Satanist seem to worship a supernatural devil.
LeVay Satanism worships man and reason and celebrates natural behaviour and urges denied by more conventional religions.
LeVayists perform rituals with pentagrams and candles and lots of shouting "Hail Satan" but insist this just satisfies some role playing urge and has no other meaning, spiritual or religious attached. Its more about living without rules or superstition as far as I understand, so whats with the dressing up and all I really don't know.
The Lutheran church in Columbia looks about the same with the cult leader's promise of money and sex.

It looks no more dangerous than mainstream religions, but for me I still like to keep my Wednesday nights and Sundays free.

Hey, why wait for just once a year when you can have Halloween several days a week? Fun for the whole family!

Satanic Temple is actually a bunch of humanists and atheists that parody religion much the same way the FSM group does. They are activists that do good work.

If schools try to sneak in religion under the guise of after school programs , the ST demands equal time with this:

Send them a dollar or two. They deserve it and they are funny as hell. Pun intended.

Here are their tenets:

Here are their tenets:

"There are seven fundamental tenets.

One should strive to act with compassion and empathy towards all creatures in accordance with reason.

The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.

One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.

The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo your own.

Beliefs should conform to our best scientific understanding of the world. We should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit our beliefs.

People are fallible. If we make a mistake, we should do our best to rectify it and resolve any harm that may have been caused.

Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word"

Yeah, I would take those ANY day over the ten commandments. Hmmm... Come to think of it, though, I pretty much already do live by those tenets now. Hey! I'm a Satanist, and I never even knew it! Cool!

Both the Satanic Temple (ST)

Both the Satanic Temple (ST) and the Church of Satan (CoS) oppose the influence of established conservative religions. Each promotes the importance of the individual and reason.

However, after closer reading, the CoS still places emphasis on the ritual and the power of magic for the satisfaction of the individual’s baser desires, which has priority over other concerns. It’s more like a ‘Warlock-Lite’ for garage covens.

The ST lacks woo. The local council invocation youtube was more a protest against invocations of any type for what should be a purely secular political function, and was used to draw attention to the matter. It certainly had the full attention of the religious protesters present that night. The use of the word “Satanic” is the most effective title to confront the complacent influence of mainstream religions. It presents the ST as more than some poorly defined rag-tag atheist protest group.

As Chimp has noted the ST is a humanist/atheist organisation with more concern for the interests of the community as well as the individual.

The CoS has Nine Satanic Statements, (https://www.churchofsatan.com/nine-satanic-statements.php) and also has Nine Satanic Sins, (https://www.churchofsatan.com/nine-satanic-sins.php ) and Eleven Satanic Rules for the Earth. (https://www.churchofsatan.com/eleven-rules-of-earth.php)
They all read a little harsh and selfish and incomplete. There is no suggestion on just how to 'destroy' anyone who persists in annoying you in public after repeated requests for them to desist.

The ST has Seven Tenets that hold up well in comparison. (see Chimp’s post)

The Church of Lucifer in Columbia looks like a version of LeVey's church. I still haven't found much on offer other than the unlimited access to money, sex, and drugs too, probably, and the thrill of defying the Catholic Church.

If I were to give up my Wednesday nights and had cash enough to donate, I would go with the Temple.

Yeah, the layout is a bit hodge-podge. Not much time to explore it now. Will have to check it out more later. Thanks, Grin.

Edit to add: Thinking about ordering a coffee mug from them for shits-n-giggles. *snicker*
