People should be given a choice whether or not their genitals are cut upon. It is barbaric to do this to a child. If a person wishes to have such a procedure done as an adult fine, but this should not be forced on children male or female.
Cutting infants of either sex is wrong. No civilized country should permit it. Anyone caught mutilating infants should get mandatory life in prison with no parole. Never mind whether it was "just nicking" or "scraping." Use your knives on yourselves and see how it feels, you butchering bastards.

If they wish to use their religion as a defence..... then they should have no difficulty in producing an appropriate text from their respective holy book to justify their stance.
In the event they fail to produce such testimony it is my opinion their children should be taken into the care of the state...the parents should both be sterilised and their identities and full details published in the media.
As far as I am aware there are NO verses in the Quran insisting on circumcision ..(male or female)
The bible mentions male circumcision and that only in the old testament ... it makes no mention of female circumcision.
As far as I can ascertain... female genital circumcision originated as a CULTURAL practice common only in certain rural /backward /uneducated regions of north Africa there are examples in Animistic tribal groups and Moslem tribal groups and ,indeed Christian tribal groups..... it seems to have been recently introduced into the Muslim population of India.

Jesus was circumcised.
Paul circumcised Timothy. He had to suck the bloody wound as part of the ritual on a grown man so he didn't like it. Peter, on the other hand, did like it. They had a big fight over it and Paul won. That's why Christian men don't have to get circumcised today.
Female genital circumcision is an old Egyptian custom practiced by the queens and princesses. The common folk wanted to be like them so they started doing it. Today, dumb women force their daughters to have it even though they themselves hated to have it done on them. It was a very popular "cosmetic" surgery here in the States in the 20th Century. It was sold as something women should want to have done. It just became illegal fairly recently.

Perhaps MGM started as a way to determine if a Jewish woman should have sex with any particular man. Circumcised men were okay as they were Jews but uncircumcised gentiles were not ok.
I'm discusted that lawyer is arguing it's a constitutional religious right. I agree with watchman, parents should be sterilized and named for such child abuse.

But in males it seems to be a type of "rite of passage" thing...... the boy becoming a man...sort of thing.... but I did note that it seems to have been a Egyptian thing from around the 6th dynasty..... maybe the Israelites picked it up from them....after all their founding prophet had an Egyptian name.

Yeah, this is always something that comes up when we talk about genital mutilation. 'Muh religious freedom!' You can have your stupid fucking cult, that doesn't give you a right to mutilate children's genitals.
I think it's wrong regardless of the baby's sex. I've been circumcised myself. It's a permanent mark into a cult that looks to suppress non-members.
Babies with male genitalia are circumcised in the Jewish faith because Abraham almost "sacrificed" his son, Issac.
I'd speak out more openly against this barbaric practice if I can be more anonymous about it.
