Atheists have arrived.
Steven Hawking, famous atheist, just had his ashes interred in Westminister Abbey.
I would have thought he would have objected.

Buried between Darwin and Newton. What's to complain about?
How much does having a "w" in you last name help in becoming a genious?
"Steven Hawking, famous atheist, just had his ashes interred in Westminister Abbey. I would have thought he would have objected."
He was a clever chap by any standards, but that would be mighty impressive?
As an atheist it doesn't matter where my remains reside, one piece of dirt is just like another. The problem should lay with those of strong "beliefs" who think holy ground is reserved for those who follow their religion.
The second part that was not mentioned is that Hawking's voice was integrated into a nice memorial service, and that audio will be transmitted by a radio telescope to the nearest black hole. One weird thing about black holes is that all information stops at the event horizon, and thus that memorial service will be stored on the event horizon for the life of the black hole, many billions of years. What dissipates the message is.. get ready for it, Hawking radiation.
His voice will be stored for billions of years, far exceeding the life of our sun. IMO that is really cool.
