Do Islam, Judaism and Christianity "share" the same "god"
I'm not making a claim for god (since I don't believe god exists in any way)
But I am wondering about the similarities of the central theme of their "god"
Muslims claim to believe in the God of Abraham ( Jehovah or Yahweh )
Hebrews believe in ( Jehovah or Yahweh )
Christianity has a close relationship with Judaism
All believe in a monotheistic God who is Creator of all things, omnipotent and "merciful".
and also claim that God has sent prophets to reveal His will and produce scriptures to guide our lives...
Would be interested to hear anyones thoughts really...
(maybe its less of a debate but more of a chat, sorry if its in the wrong section!)
pps sorry if its one you've answered a million times...

I don't think all (insert religion here) worship the same god! It's been my observation that they each have one, of so many, variations on a theme.
I don't know the answer. I don't care what the answer is to this question.
Okay, you don't care. You are not obligated to read or respond to any post.
If you are an atheist, why do you care whether adherents to these 3 religions believe they are worshipping the same sky daddy.
If you are a theist, consult your ''experts''. I am sure that they have an opinion about this question. To me, it is about as interesting as this question: How many gods can dance on the head of a pin.
Well I think maybe it might be amusing in a fun way to throw at them that they might be cheerleading the same deity for the ones especially that keep quoting "Not in my religion, its everybody else that causes trouble" it might be enough to jog them a little that the are all part of an unholy trio... but then again probably not (maybe its just me being naughty :P)
Also i'm not really as interested in the which "god/magical creature" part (your right there, I could hardly care) but I do wonder at how successful religion is as a system of removing people from being able to be objective and use logical reasoning
(but felt that to be yet another question.. so wanted to keep it simple)
I'm new to the group but I guess a long time atheist albeit unknowingly - only found out about atheists by accident through Richard Dawkins :P... Just beginning to really take my non-belief further Since I think as society we really need to start confronting other peoples outward effort to make society more religious and less secular So I guess I am looking for more information in general...
Anyway thanks for the answers so far :)
Equating fairy tales is pointless. As cyberLN has pointed out, many within the nominally same religion don't believe in the same god. Here's your question another way. Did the Greeks, Romans, Norse and Hebrews believe in the same war god? Ares, Mars, Tiu and Yahweh all have similar attributes (none very admirable).
Taking it a bit further along, there are as many gods as there are people who profess a belief in one. No two people have the same god residing in their psyches because everyone's mind's eye notion of a god is different. I don't know why the idea of a god is never explored in that manner because it's pretty gosh darn obvious. But, like the street light post in my front parkway, it's leaning quite noticeably and has been getting worse over the last 6 years. Yesterday I mentioned it to my wife who quipped if I had not mentioned it she would not have noticed it. People cannot see/think beyond their noses - for themselves - and need an assist. Most times they prefer an assist. Hence religious indoctrination is sooooo easy.
The Christians claim to be worshiping the same god as the Jews. The Muslims claim to be worshiping the same god as Jews and Christians. Their books clearly make this claim. Ultimately, all theists participate in this ongoing process and worship a god of their own imagination.
the question, do all the 3 major faiths monotheistic claim to worship the same God, well the 3 worship the same god of Abraham but after that the interpretation of how that God is worshipped is different between the three. The Judea god is one god not including Jesus Christ the Islam God doesn`t accept a son of God such as Jesus Christ, While the Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and is God. but the forms of worship are different. Islam doesn`t believe that God could become human as the Christians do. They don`t believe that jesus died on the cross in Jerusalem in Israel over 2,000 years ago, Also they don`t believe in jesus Christ deity, purely god and purely man.The major books of worship and instruction are much different the koran of islam and the bible of Christianity. The bible was the first to be written then the koran later on, I believe the koran came out in ad 600 years after Christianity.i know for certain that many a century passed.christianity and islam both have over a million adherents, with the last statistic that I have, Christianity with over two billion and islam at 1.8 billion.so you could possibly make the point that of the worlds population of some 8 billion people at least half is of the monotheistic religions.i will include more information next time.

The gods of Islam, Christianity and Judaism all evolved from the same pot and, therefore, share some striking similarities. If gods are defined by the doctrines they are embedded in, then we have three, different gods. A liberal, religious view holds that there is only one god who is seen differently by different peoples, that it's not a case of one doctrine being right and all others wrong. Others, such as John 61X Breezy, seem to feel that there is one god and one (more or less) true doctrine. How many gods you get depends on how you define "god."
We atheists, of course, say there are 0 gods.
No two Christians worship the same god. Every individual creates a god to worship and when that person dies, their god dies with them.

here is the above link to the morality argument that I promided.
I used to be Jewish. When was I believed that there was one God for everyone, but others in my family did not feel the same way. So I would say that each person has their own thoughts on that one.
Oh for crying out loud. Tale a history lesson. Muslims, Jews, Christians, all believe in the god of Abraham.
Why stop there? Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah are also aliases of Ea, Marduk, Zeus, Jupiter, Baal.... They're all sky-father gods concocted by ancient Indo-European people to explain their world and maintain the power of the priestly and ruling classes.
Those people lived several millennia ago and had no understanding of meteorology, astronomy, geology, vulcanology, etc., so their reliance on superstition is perhaps understandable. I can't think of any reasonable excuse for people to cling to these sky-daddy cults in the 21st century.
I am not under any obligation to respect islam or any other religions rules and tenets. Please consider this to be an image of mohammed: @@
To answer the OP'S question. Yes, they do in fact worship the same God, but unlike the narrative proposed in Islam, they are not the same religion. Each worship the God of Abrham as Mykcob4 so directly pointed out. Having studied the big 3 for some time what I can tell you is this. All claim to originate from the patriarch Abraham, all claim to hold to the covenant of Moses, (to greater or lesser extent) Christianity is a rough plagiarism of Judaism, and Islam is a direct plagiarism of both Judaism and Christianity, Much like Mormonism. Why they are NOT the same religion is because of the variations on doctrine and dogmatic adherence. The significance of Jesus, whether or not Paul was an apostle or an usurper, and whether or not pork sounds good for dinner. (See Kosher and halāl)
