Well, thanks for the words of encouragement Ratatouille.
Indeed. Among friends, you are. Wait. Strike that. No one cares about your delusions. You see, they’re not as tried and tested as mine.
Take note of rat spit’s fork. A double standard so subtle, not even the most pompous of Atheists can avoid it (and - yes, I’m referring specifically and mostly [only] towards “Sheldon”).
Observe. I hear voices in my head. Usually just one, but occasionally two. Now. Okay. Am I crazy? Not yet. Why?
You see, Sheldon hears a voice in his head too. Indeed; it’s his voice. Or so he thinks. More on that later *hahahhahahaha* Ahem. So, if Sheldon associates that little chatty, impregnable voice in his head as “himself” - or in other words as “real”, then (with certainty) he must afford me the same opportunity.
Therefore. The more Sheldon tells me that the acquaintances that I have in my head (viz. the Evil One and the OverLord) - the more he tells me they don’t exist - the less I am willing to believe that he exists. He will not afford me the benefit of the doubt. He will call me a liar or a foolish person, deluded, what have you - AND I will throw it all back in his face. And so far, it seems to shut him up and like a good Chess Fork, he can move one piece or another out of the way of my pawn, but I will still pick up a piece. And I am winning.
When you have a strategy like this ... then you can argue with the puny Atheist.
@Rat Spit
Dang, Ratty, you are full of all sorts of good news today. Puny atheists? Have you been spying on me in the shower?... *hands on hips*.... *accusing look*...

"I consider myself a bit more on the agnostic" As you enter the site you will need to choose words more carefully. Agnosticism has nothing to do with belief in God or Gods. Agnosticism is about what you Know to be true. I make the assertion that everyone is "agnostic." Theist and atheist because there is NOTHING ANYONE ACTUALLY KNOWS ABOUT GOD OR GODS. Atheism is about what you believe. You do not believe in a god, you are an atheist. You believe in a god, you are a theist. You may go back and forth but you may not hold both ideas at the same time. If you are agnostic, you are just like everyone else in the world, ignorant when it comes to God.
why it would or would not be "fair" to live under the authority of a God such as the Judaic "God"
I don't get how "FAIR" enters into anything. According to theist dogma it is a choice (Abrahamic). If it is not fair you choose something else. Atheists have already chosen and "FAIRNESS" has nothing to do with anything. I don't think that word has ever even appeared on this site.
"Why religions raise children instead of raising children to be adults." (I said it better) You can not convince adults to feel guilty and keep giving you money. Adults "INTERNALIZE" moral behavior and do not follow "RELIGIOUS DICTATES." Adults are bad for religious business.
Matthew 18:2 Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. It's easy to manipulate a child. (Associated with this is the fact that many Atheists regard childhood indoctrination as amoral at best and child abuse at worst.)
'The goal of my post is to get opinions with explanations on why personally, others would think the "authority" of a "God" would be moral/fair or not.'
There are two general responses to this kind of inquiry that I have heard from theists. Both woefully inadiquate. 1. God made the universe so you owe him obedience. God is the all powerful creator of everything and so he should be worshiped. 2. You have a sinful nature because of original sin and Jesus died for you so you can have eternal salvation. You must be thankful or burn in hell.
Religious institutions are a bit like a military boot camp. They tear you down and then build you back up the way they want you to be. They rip apart your ego, you are bad, horrible, a sinner and responsible for the death of Jesus. You are lustful, a liar and more. Only through Jesus can you find salvation from your evil self. (We call this BRAINWASHING). It is what the military does to young men in Boot Camp and it is what Religions to to Convert the innocent.
