First, let me tell you why this blog post is making the rounds on my Facebook news feed. I live in the Orlando area. We pride ourselves on our love for the diverse communities who reside here. We're a huge melting pot, and wouldn't have it any other way. The love and kindness that shone through after the Pulse shooting was nothing short of amazing. We recently dealt with the 1 year anniversary of that event, and it was a beautiful celebration of love and life. Not a few days later, our local paper, the Orlando Sentinel published an Opinion piece. It was about how Disney attendance is down and it's because we're so gay friendly that the Evangelicals don't want to come here. Fine by me. But really, the attendance is down due to Disney wanting the attendance down. They raised prices to thin the heard due to the constant large crowds. On top of that, this piece was written by a co-owner or investor (can't remember now) of that Noah's Ark theme park a few states away. And it was one giant piece of advertising for this park. Locals here, were extremely upset about the timing of publishing the article and the newspaper didn't have much to say, except that they publish as they receive them, which I highly doubt.
Now, this blog post is going around in response to Evangelicals not wanting to come to town. I completely agree with it, and thought you all might like the read. Here's a little excerpt "Just ask around. People outside the Church will tell you: love is no longer our calling card. It is now condemnation, bigotry, judgment and hypocrisy. In fact, the Christianity prevalent in so much of America right now isn’t just failing to draw others to Christ, it is actively repelling them from him. By operating in a way that is in full opposition to the life and ministry of Jesus—it is understandably producing people fully opposed to the faith that bears his name."

What! Less evengelicals are visiting! I need to move back! Just moved almost a year ago : (
SecularSonOfABi..., Do you miss it, or are you happy with your choice?
Fine by me, those whackos can take that stance and just hasten their demise, in most first world countries church attendance is down, way down population % wise in the last century. It used to be nearly everyone went to church every sunday or whatever holy day, near 100% church attendance.
A 2005 study published in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion found that just 22% of Americans attend services weekly. This compares to other countries claims such as 15% of French citizens, 10% of UK citizens, 8.8% of Australian citizens and 5.6% of Dutch citizens. With all of these countries seeing continued declines, especially because the youngest attendance rates, 18-29 are very low.
This trend is also made more obvious that few new churches are being built in most areas of population expansion, 1000 new homes is put in a new development, but seating capacity for 1000 new homes in the area does not get built in new/remodeled churches in the area.
It is slow progress, but atheism/agnostic is gaining ground on religion, long term. Right now, more in terms of how religiously devout the theist are.
Let's hope they go to Noah's ark world. I hear it is a hoot
My Husband just told me he read something where the owner of Noah's Ark theme park blames atheists for their park attendance being low. You can't make this stuff up...
LogicForTW, you're right. I remember many family and friends waking up at the ass crack of dawn to go to church. Now, none of them do anymore. I was baffled as a kid why people went to church so early. Weekends were for sleeping in, in my house.
Thou shalt not go over 40 miles an hour on a fun ride.
Yeah, I sayeth unto you that candy cotton will bring a pox on your house and ye daughter with fornicate with the devil if she dons the ears of a mouse.
Oh holy god that sit upon the spinning teacup in the sky, how can I serve you? Nay shall I sit near the damned that loveth his own brother. I shall not share a T-bar with sodomizers. Nor will I dwell among those who carry a rainbow.
Oh dear lord hear me, I beg of you to show me the way... to Noah's Ark Theme Park in Kentucky.
Sayeth unto me that I shall have gay and levity, not with the gays. I shall not enter into the land of wizards and witches, not because it cost nearly a year's salary, but because it is evil. Nay shall I enter in that of movie magic or cars that are possessed, for demons are poised to set upon me. I shall gladly tithe the $40.00 and walk among those who walk with you on this YOUNG earth.
Amen!

The creators of Noah's ark world busted Exodus 20:4-6 (ERV) big time = "4 “You must not make any idols. Don’t make any statues or pictures of anything up in the sky or of anything on the earth or of anything down in the water. 5 Don’t worship or serve idols of any kind, because I, the Lord, am your God. I hate my people worshiping other gods. People who sin against me become my enemies, and I will punish them. And I will punish their children, their grandchildren, and even their great-grandchildren. 6 But I will be very kind to people who love me and obey my commands. I will be kind to their families for thousands of generations."

Sounds like Trump doesn't it?

I hope that sucker implodes (financially).
Hah, thanks for that link, I got a good laugh out of it.
I want to debate Ken Ham someday, I always feel like the people that do debate him, let Ken Ham dictate the argument, and drag the atheist arguing him into a subject area where they can not really win.
Keep it simple against this idiot, there is mountains of evidence against his stance.
That was great, thank you!
@LogicforTW: "I want to debate Ken Ham someday"
If you do, be sure to ask him how he can continue to utter his absurd claims when he comes from a country filled with evidence against the young earth/creationist/Noah's Ark fantasy.

This article describes the discovery of an Aboriginal settlement dating back 49,000 years by a scientist called Giles Hamm.
Predatory evangelists from Australia and New Zealand seem to be migrating to America in search of larger herds of prey animals.
