Hello Bussta33,

Hello Bussta33,

To the Christians making this claim of the Bible and Christianity being the basis for the USA, I would only need quote the Treaty of Tripoli, article 11, 1797:

"The government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion.'

They don't believe the Bible themselves, they just appeal to it to win over voters. They laugh all the way to the bank when they are believed.

These people will not be

These people will not be satisfied until there is a stone monument of the Ten Commandments on every court house lawn . Until homosexuals and Wiccans are being burned alive. Benny Hinn is appointed as Surgeon General. Until we are all dressing like extras in a Cecil B DeMille Bible epic , herding goats , and stoning women for adultery. Leprosy upon them!

I essentially agree with

I essentially agree with everything in the video, but lets be clear about who is being "stupid".
conservative
adjective
1.
averse to change or innovation and holding traditional values.
"they were very conservative in their outlook"
synonyms: traditionalist, traditional, conventional, orthodox, stable, old-fashioned, dyed-in-the-wool, unchanging, hidebound; More
2.
(in a political context) favouring free enterprise, private ownership, and socially conservative ideas.
synonyms: right-wing, reactionary, traditionalist, unprogressive, establishmentarian, blimpish; More
noun
1.
a person who is averse to change and holds traditional values.
"he remains a conservative in constitutional matters"
synonyms: right-winger, reactionary, rightist, diehard; More
2.
a supporter or member of the Conservative Party of Great Britain or a similar party elsewhere.

The GOP has sunk all the way down from reaganesque to trumpesque. It is important to recognize the difference between people who are conservatives (people like me) and those who are superstitious or ignorant on topics such as man-made climate change and LGBT issues. I think the Republican base contains many intelligent people (Kasich perhaps?), but Trump, Cruz and Palin aren't three of them. I think it is perfectly possible to be fiscally conservative and socially liberal and I hope I'm correct that most USAmericans are both. That is why I'm fairly sanguine about Trump and the US Presidency - he'll never make it.

I am UK old-school and have always seen myself as liberal and conservative - lower case. The dictionary says it is possible to be both.

Politically too it is possible to change support for political party without hypocrisy. Churchill (for example) was a Liberal before joining the Conservatives and my generation of conservatives and Tories took pride in their liberal credentials. Parties change their policies and people change their minds. Nothing wrong with that.

“I am an English Liberal. I hate the Tory Party, their men, their words and their methods.” So said Winston Churchill in 1903.
A typical Christian, his choice of words implies he might have been prone to hate people through personal anger or frustration on occasions when it would be more appropriate to hate only their beliefs, opinions or actions.

I don't know how old you are,

I don't know how old you are, only that you live in the UK. I lived in the Reagan(Thatcher) era and conservatives were just as screwed up then as they are now. Reagan caused at the time the biggest physical deficit in US history. Under his reign more people went homeless than any era other than the great depression. Reagan did more against labor, children, minorities, gays, than even Hubert Hoover. Reagan cause the greatest concentration of wealth into the top 1% in U.S. history. He almost caused WWIII. The don't call the Reagan era the "Me Generation" for nothing. The business climate was filled with layoffs, and hostile take-overs.
I was in the military at the time, and although Reagan spent more money on the military percentage wise than anyone in history, he CUT pay and benefits for active duty personnel and veterans.
And he raised taxes no matter what anyone tells you.
Here's a link about Reagan that tells the truth complete with the facts to back it up:

The conservatives,

The conservatives, republicans, libertarians, reformist, tea party voters, always buy this propaganda and vote against their own personal interest, and detrimental to the interest of this nation.

Ah, but remember, Myk, this

Ah, but remember, Myk, this world is not but ephemera! Why should we care for it, when there's the glory of God to be had once we're gone? Surely Jesus doesn't mind a few oil spills here or there, or a rainforest slashed and burned, does he? Honestly, just look at it as a way of ultimately teaching those heathens who don't get raptured why not betting on Pascal's Wager still counts as losing. And c'mon, penguins look adorable with plastic can rings tied around their necks.

I had to look up ephemera. I

I had to look up ephemera. I know what you mean. The right side of the aisle is filled with people who seek immediate satisfaction and gratification. Go to any town in the USA where there is a very active evangelical population, any town that overwhelmingly purports "god" and "jesus", and you will find a high number of topless bars.
What is really disturbing is that they love the almighty dollar so much that they will justify anything and any crime as long as it makes money. Slavery, pollution, exploitation, corporate white collar crimes.
They even accept Sean Puffy Combs and Jayzee because they are nearly billionaires.
