Catholic church getting taxpayer-funded subsidy in Australia

The Australian government is paying a "Jobkeeper" subsidy to help businesses affected by COVID-19 to keep their workers on the payroll. Guess which multinational criminal organization is claiming that subsidy for its Men in Black and then asking them to kick back half of the subsidy to the organization.

So my tax dollars are being used to pay for altar wine and defense lawyers.

Oh yes it is very true. We are paying the wages of facilitators of pedophilia......making us all culpable.

I remember many years ago

I remember many years ago Catholics started holding back a portion of their taxes in protest against the legalization of abortion in New Zealand. They said that their consciences prevented them from paying for abortions through their taxes. I guess paying for lawyers to defend child rapists is ok though.

"We are paying the wages of facilitators of pedophilia......making us all culpable." What's even more insulting is that the government subsidy is paying the men in black TWICE what the church was paying them. The Church just wanted what they thought they should get a share of the spoils.
Did anyone notice if nuns were included in this 'Jobkeeper' program?

To be entirely fair God should be supplying the money if he started this covid 19 mess which has led to the program in the first place. And more importantly all the churches should have all tax breaks and government grants denied until through miracle working and prayer they get rid of the pandemic which the insurance companies would be declaring an act of God...lets protest and demonstrate!

Since when did paying taxes

Since when did paying taxes make a person “culpable” (I know what you mean?!?!!!). I don’t voluntarily pay taxes. How a thief spends the stolen money (say mugs me), like on drugs or whatever, doesn’t make me “culpable” ... our govts have never really ever let us have a say where the tax dollars are spent. Only social pressure makes them reassess how they are spending it.

Exactly my point. As taxpayers we should be letting our representatives KNOW that we feel the support of non taxpaying offshore entities like the Catholic and Anglican churches should not be supported by our tax dollars.

If we do not then we are culpable for the damage that such organisations cause.

I'm afraid I stopped making futile gestures nearly 50 years ago.

I'm put in mind of the Serenity Prayer, said at all AA meetings( I agree with the sentiment):

" GIVE me the courage to change the things I can,
To accept the things I cannot chance
And the wisdom to know the difference"

COMPLETELY agree!!!! Exactly.

COMPLETELY agree!!!! Exactly...

You would be surprised how they respond when
“News” of what’s going on is now in the “realm”
of the average person.... and enough people call - well....
the blade cuts both ways - TAX the fuckers if they want our tax dollars...

Hmmmm - wonder if the ole’ WTBTS or JW.com
OR whatever “corporation name” their lawyers have added to their long list know as “Jehovah’s Witnesses” are doing the same to “pay” their Bethel workers, and “missionaries” and “travelling overseers”...hmmmm

Btw -
Saw one yesterday in the grocery store. 25 years ago he was about 60-65, an Elder and had regular pioneered his whole life with his wife. She died (my guess 20 yrs ago). I’ve seen him once before in a dollar store “grocery shopping”. He’s poor as shit - old clothes, worn shoes, skinny and alone.
OH before you get feeling sorry for him, he was our local pedo Elder, but alas, no two witnesses ever witnessed the same event (Jehovah protected him) ...now he’s blessed by still being alive waiting for Armageddon still....

Do churches get taxed in

Do churches get taxed in Australia?

I am guessing no.

So they do not even pay into the system, yet they are getting a bail out by "the people."

Man I need to start a church, I would not have to pay any taxes, and still get a bail out by public dollars when the church takes a hit.

In the US, I could start a church with 10 other people, all we have to do is meet (online zoom meeting is fine these days) once a week. Never pay a dime in taxes and still be up for bail out money? All for the service of talking on my soapbox? Sign me up!
