Simple: Jesus is a

Simple: Jesus is a mythological composite character. When the mythology was recorded, they recorded that his body was missing. You might as well ask what happened to the beanstalk after Jack killed the giant.

No one knows if it even happened. Even if we had a good idea that it did happen, no ones knows what happened exactly. We have no reliable sources of information on the subject.

There are three possible

There are three possible scenarios.
1. It didn't happen. No Jesus. No body.
2. Rigor mortis set in, followed by rapid decomposition in a warm climate. The corpse rotted away and turned to dust, or was taken away and thrown on the rubbish heap with other executed criminals.
3. Jesus was taken down from the cross alive but unconscious. Later he regained consciousness and made his escape.

There's one impossible scenario.
Jesus was killed. Later he was miraculously restored to life.

thanks for your comments all,

thanks for your comments all, That is what the whole thing comes down to isn`t it, like paul or saul said that if jesus body did not rise then we are all most pitied subjects. I just can`t tell I use to feel strong in my belief about the claims of the bible. But now not so much any more. I don`t know if the claims are reliable; I f there is a God then nothing can stop or hinder him from raising someone from the dead. but that is the question that has been with us for some time, is there a God?

Before you can ask the

Before you can ask the question of what happened to the body of Jesus, you have to prove that this Jesus you are referring to actually existed. First as a human and then as something more than human. As there is absolutely no First Century evidence supporting the existence of a magical messiah called Jesus, you have your work cut out for you. Good Luck. You can not simply assert things into existence.

Assuming he existed for the sake of argument, Jesus was home, recovering, after being rescued. Crucifixion took days to kill the victim. Plenty of time for a rescue. The proof? Mark 15:

15:43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
15:44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead.

Maybe he wasn't!

15:44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.

@Sushisnake:

There were crucifixion survivors. After the siege of Jerusalem in 70CE, many Jews were crucified. The historian Josephus, who had defected to the Roman side and was a friend of the Roman general Titus, saw several of his friends nailed up and asked Titus to spare them. They were taken down and survived.

agnostic believer,

agnostic believer,

Joseph of Arimathea was a disciple and he wanted to gain eternal life. So when Yeshua died he got his body and put it in his tomb. Later on he removed the body and ate it because Yeshua had told the people that if they wanted eternal life they had to eat his flesh and drink his blood. Joseph of Arimathea was pissed when he got sick and died.

ummm well, I wasn't there so

ummm well, I wasn't there so I have no idea what happened. As far as I know, no one does. There are many possibilities, but for simplicity, let's focus on these three potential possibilities:

1) it was all made up
2) something happened, which many people could not explain, and labeled it as "supernatural"
3) It actually happened

Because we weren't there, the best (and only) thing we can really do is speculate. We can hope that the bible is as accurate as possible, but at the end of the day, we cannot rely on it as a useful tool for genuine historical information. I believe that some of the general events listed in the bible may have taken place, minus the extra supernatural spins added to them.

With speculation as our only real method to try and logically assess whether Jesus actually died and came back, we need to think rationally.
I for example, have never seen or heard of a person dying and coming back to life. I'm sure everyone on this forum including you would agree with me. If this is possible, I have not seen anything that proves it. I have however, been exposed to made up events, and I have made things up myself. I have also seen things in my life that to this day I do nothave an explanation for. Just because I cannot comprehend what took place does not mean for a second that I can put the "supernatural" tag on it. Using simple logic you can ask yourself: what is more likely? That a person actually died, and came back, or that there is more to the story than meets the eye? I think it is far more plausible to assert that what took place was a fabrication or an unknown. In the worst case, we do not have an explanation for what happened, but that does not mean that the answer is automatically X or "Supernatural". That my friend, is called an argument from ignorance fallacy. Also, don't forget how stories change over time. I have seen a multitude of videos on youtube of these so called "supernatural experiences" where a person will describe something "supernatural" that they witnessed such as "Jesus appeared at the foot of my bed" or "I was in a car accident and I saw a bright light, with all of my family members, and religious figures were comforting me". At first, the stories are quite simple. However, as these people tell their stories, have others close to them "interpret" aspects of the original story, the whole tale begins to change over time, usually unintentionally. If someone's "supernatural" story can change in one or two years, imagine what could have changed from the time this event occurred and the time at which it was written down.

Ratburn: "I for example, have never seen or heard of a person dying and coming back to life."

It depends how you define dead. It's quite difficult to diagnose death. Unless someone's been decapitated or burned to a crisp, it really requires a physician. In Japan, the media never report that someone was found dead. They always say a person was found in a state of cardiac and pulmonary arrest.

So an exhausted, unconscious man who's suffered major blood loss, exposure, and thirst might appear dead to a layperson, but they could conceivably recover if placed in a prone position, allowing more blood to flow to the brain. That's what I think started the Jesus legend.

Algebe,

Algebe,

If you want to know if a person is dead wrap a plastic bag over his head. If he starts gasping for air he's alive.

I think it was the euhemerization of a mythical jesus character which was already in the Jewish mythos. At least I heard some very compelling arguments with a good amount of supporting data. Read: Richard Carrier : "On The Historicity of Jesus; Reasons We May Have to Doubt. "

Dying/rising saviour gods were pretty common in antiquity.

Firstly, I would imagine it

Firstly, I would imagine it to be very possible that there was indeed a persona called Jesus at this time in history.

But I would have to defer to Occams Razor in determining what is the least probable outcome, which in every instance would be the train of thought that he ascended to heaven.

We could even back this with using Hicthens Razor in, "What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence"

In so saying, we know people have been tortured to death and died, and accept this.

We could also accept that someone possibly stole his dead body from a tomb, as this happens.

And we could even say it was all faked and he escaped into obscurity as this is very plausible...

However, again... the concept that he died, revived days after and ascended to heaven is most likely... bollocks. :) :) :)

the truth what happened in

the truth what happened in the tomb was, he was panicking that he would run out of blood from his wounds so he tried to open the tomb but too skinny to open the huge boulder, so he prayed. and when he did? no one answered. just like all of those who prayed for almost everything. nothing happen coz there's no god, no jesus. no angels, no evil. and the word "resurrect" cannot be used coz no one did came from the dead and lived.

It is just a story, borrowed from previous stories. The story of Jesus being murdered by the people in power, then being resurrected is not even a new or creative tale.
